Good analysis and I understand your concerns, however I feel the only real problem for May fitting into our system would be his lack of adequete quickness and agility which could be an area he improves in if he sticks to his pledge to lose weight this offseason and come into next year better prepared. He's a very smart player that shouldn't have a problem buying into JVG's expectations at the 4.

I feel his conditioning problems are overrated anyways since he's injured so often it's impossible to simulate game speed/situations while recovering and practicing alone. The only way to get into "game shape" is to actually play in games, which he has managed to not do a whole lot of the past two years.

If anybody here has watched him play this year they would have to agree that he's improved his jumpshot tremendously. He can hit the 10-15 footer with regularity and even drilled a couple 3's to win a game earlier this year. Add this effective jumpshot to his already potent post game and we're talking about a player who could average 20 PPG on a team featuring him as the first or second option. Obviously, that wouldn't be the case if we were to add him but in the long run I feel he could be a more than adequete replacement for Howard since we all know Howard's game is only going to decline as he gets older. May could be a solid replacement for Howard in addition his upside.

Somehow this proposal doesn't excite me, but, then again, offseason discussions don't seem timely. The last thing I want to think about at this point is the offseason, it's the playoffs! Discussions of offseason moves smacks of "over and out." Somehow I am getting the impression that fans aren't bubbling with confidence.

Why are we talking about the off-season with only a few games before the playoffs?

I wouldn't trade Head (unless an amazing trade came along...and this isn't it)...I think he'll be a vital 6th man for the Rockets for years to come, or at least I hope so.

Au contraire,I think there is a decent chance that we will win it all.

THIS is a good time to be excited about EVERYTHING ROCKETS.

I think May is definitely someone the rox should look into acquiring. Would want to wait til after the draft to offer up something though. Maybe a future 1st.

Ya i can multitask, even though i started the thread i do understand that today Utah plays the Nuggets the hottest team in the NBA right now (if you consider heat by winning streak, their current 6 game winning streak is tops in the NBA)

We play an interesting game in portland 1 hour after that. I know that Phoenix may lock in the 2 seed against utah and then rest their starters against us, making a win against them a lock for the 4 seed for us, allowing us to rest our starters against Utah.

Home court advantage against Utah is key, not becuase of how we play, but because Utah is horrible on the road this season and as a young team, might not be able to handle going home down 2-0 or win a game 7 on the road.

SEcond round DAllas, the best second round matchup because i think we can win, i dont care what anyone else says, our guys playing their game is prety unstopable, we took this dallas team to 7 games 2 years ago and we are considerable better and they are marginally better.

If we conquer dallas, if and when then hopefully we face San Antonio cause its a better matchup than Phoenix. the western conference finals will basically be the NBA finals, if we surive that anyone in the east is toast as per our 24-6 record against the east.

    bad idea,

We'd better avoid him. According to NBA agents' analysis , this guy's leaping ability is questionable. A little bit taller than E Brand, but can't jump as high as him.

    Nanz Mohanmod is considerable .

May's injuries - don't discount the possibility that he's injury prone because he doesn't keep himself in great shape. See: Barkley, Charles.

Wilcox is another guy that I like a lot, but I think his dominance is mostly limited to my playstation. I'm not sure that he's willing to make himself a good defender - he seems content to prove himself only with scoring numbers.

    Bryan May is hot garbage.

I can't believe some of you are actually wanting to give up Luther for May.

If you are looking for a power forward for next season Darko Milicic is the guy. He can shoot, pass, block shots and rebound. When Brian Hill lets him play significant minutes he produces. But they are lowballing him in Orlando and limit his minutes even when he produces. Case in point was a game where he had 14pts, 16rbds and 5 blocks through 3 quarters and didn't play until a minute left in the game. Just check out his game log and see his production. At 7-1 and 260 he has size for center or forward and he's only 21. He also led the World Championships in blocked shots.

Put out of context (at least partially), that is one of the most hilarious NBA-related comments I have ever read XD

May is meant to be a hard working high character guy. He just has a chronic knee injury/issues. Less weighty players like Brandon Roy and David Lee also have chronic, ie recurring, knee/leg issues.

Very intriguing to me. Can't get a handle on what the demand will be for a guy like this. What does he do good? Sure ain't shooting or rebounding.

Well, he blocks shots very well. One of the top guys per 48. He has range out to 15-18. The only thing he needs to improve is getting the opportunity to take more shots to build consistency. If you look at his game logs he averages about 15 pts, 10 rbs, 3 blocks if he gets over 30 minutes a game. This is on a team where he doesn't get anything run for him. He passes well for a big guy and would be great high-low with YAO and can hit the short open jumper. He will also block shots and play defense for Gundy. He really only needs to have more of an opportunity. I would say that he is one of those "money ball" guys that Morey would probably look at.

Definitely an upgrade over what we have at the 4 and is still developing. As I said before, the Magic are trying to low ball him and get him on the cheap. They can match but I think they only have $8 mil left in cap space. Not sure how they are going to use it though.
