Im fixing to graduate and I think i got a job at UC Davis. How is the town??? is it kinda bland? for some reason that area of california around sacremento doesnt seem appealing. maybe i have the wrong i idea? let me know... because i need to figure out between davis california or boston mass...
I'm at my first year here at UC Davis (freshman), and I love it. There's the common stereotype that it's a "cowtown" out in the middle of nowhere, but Sacramento's 20 minutes away and San Francisco is about an hour away, if you miss the big city life, and the city itself is not boring at all. It's a laid back college town (one of the few remaining ones) basically centered around the campus, with its share of watering holes and good food and entertainment. It is a very bike-friendly city, you can basically get anywhere on your bike with a bit of time and you save a ton on gas money. Not sure how appealing it would be to someone coming here for work, as opposed to the college experience, but if you just graduated I'm sure you're still young enough to enjoy a good frat party or two. It has its own wiki, too, which is a good way to learn everything about the town before you come here: http://www.daviswiki.org/ If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
Everyone I've known who went to UC-Davis enjoyed it. But of course, your chance of marrying into old money is much greater in Boston.
