Rappers like Ice Cube would be appalled at the music of today. Nobody is as hardcore as Ice Cube. He's still keeping it real...oh, wait...

Ice Cube is like the Vernon Maxwell of rap. He started a chain reaction when he left NWA.
Dropped AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and dissed everybody, he didnt give a f#$$
After he left, Dre left and found Snoop. The rest is history.
Old school Ice Cube > The Game, 50 Cent etc

Beat's hot. Hip hop is about having fun. Ain't trying to hear Talib in the club.

Jay-Z is the only rapper today who's lyrics and beats are both on point.

Today, rock is worse off than hip hop.

that why you have people like Cunninlyngustics, Immortal Technique, Murs, Pumpkinhead, Supastition, Jedi Mind Tricks, The Boot Camp Clik, The Wu Tang, Freddie Foxxx, Gangstarr, Hieroglyphics, KRS One, Little Brother, masta Ace, Necro, Oddisee, Outerspace, OC, Pharcyde, RA The Ruggedman, Soul Position, Brand Nubian..........and many other I forgot...I just don;t listen to radio, so I really don't know much about the commercial scene right now

It's just like rock. All the junk gets played on the radio and mtv. Unless you like Hoobastank, Creed, and Fall Out Boy.

Out of all those i would say Jedi Mind Tricks are the best, their production is always amazing. Necro is a joke. Boot Camp Clik are pretty good and as far as "mainstream" goes, I would say Nas is the only one still doing his thing.

Necros lyrics are pretty crazy IMO, Stoupe has always been steady for JMT, I just dont like the constant screaming of Vinnie Paz

    OC's albums are all classic

    check this one out
