Good lord, they're still on our d*cks over there: http://www.dallas-mavs.com/vb/showthread.php?t=29530
can you cut and paste the comments? i don't have membership there and don't really feel like signing up to a ghey board...
Sure... I started this thread to prove that no matter how "worthless" you thought our board was, you still read it, idiot. These guys have no f*cking concept of NBA history. Still it's just fun to observe these guys and their little board (seriously, less than 7,000 members is kinda sad compared to us and the leading Spurs board) from time to time. These threads always make me laugh.
I kinda started this whole thing, and no I was never banned from here before. I am not gonna write much in this post. What I said then was that the level of hate for Dirk and the Mavs here goes beyond normal. I visit a lot of boards, and there is definetely something weird about the hate of a lot of people. Yet there are also a lot of smart posters that I enjoy reading. You would say this is the same in any board, but for some reason it seems like there is more here. By the way Spurstalk and Phxsuns.net also have mentioned you guys a couple of times as a bad board for the level of homerism here. Also, many of you mention the sense of history very often. What does that exactly mean? That people should still be praising you for the two titles. Yes they were great, especially the heart of the second title and Akeem is a top 5 center for me but how about moving on. I think there are a lot of posters at dallas-mavs.com that have followed the nba for years (I am one) but also many that are just in their teens now. However most posters there respect the Rox team, Yao and T-Mac, and have said that a matchup in the 2nd round would not be easy yet we would expect to win. I hope this kind of settles this whole thing.
That's class, at the end of the day we're all rooting for Texas teams. We don't have to learn to like each other but we can respect each other (or maybe I'm getting soft cuz I live in Dallas now).
LOL. A response on our board? And here I was just trying to foster some entertainment until the playoffs get here. I kick ass. Please. You know full well you guys tend to only speak of NBA history in the context of the last 6-7 years. (hmm...wonder why?) Rockets fans are looking for you to mention the rockets in your acknowledgement of NBA past. We're just pointing out that you guys come off as the biggest bunch of bandwagoners this side of Yankees fans. (And we're far from the only fanbase that says this about Mavs fans) Anyway, you should know that a lot of the hate for the Mavs here comes from just a particularly rabid section of fans. This board is pretty big, and as such, there are lots of posters that only go to the Hangout or GARM, or even the Debate and Discussion forum. What you may think represents an entire board may only exist in the small sections you view. There is also a sense of accomplishment and some entitlement around here, as well. So when someone insults our board and calls it the "worst forum ever", well we kinda take it personally. I dare you to find any sports fan forum on the net that has accomplished near as much as we have it relation to the teams it's attached to. I mean, hell, we played a huge role save the Rockets and keeping them in Houston in the first place (one of our most popular posters spearheaded the whole SaveOurRockets movement). We had the Rockets VP of marketing here as a regular poster, as well as the hosts of several local radio sports shows. We've broken coutless trades and stories before the traditional media, and our board's creator and main Mod is an official Rockets invite to the team training camp. Hell, one of our members created a song a few years back about Yao that gained international popularity and even served as the lead in for Sportscenter a few times. What other bbs has been covered multiple times by Sports Illustrated? What other board has members dedicated enough to prvide full torrents of every single one of the teams games, in addition to highlight reels of only the relevant plays, on a consistent and timely basis? Everyone here at clutchfans has contributed in one form or another to getting this site to where it is now. We're dedicated fans and we're damn proud of it. You can call us unbearable crazy homers, but to say that this is the "worst forum ever?" I don't think so.
Some reading material for you endrity......enjoy. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/kelly_dwyer/08/16/rockets.blogger/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clutchfans http://espn.go.com/espninc/magazine/columns/1017pulse/823597.html
Are you high? It'll be a cold day in hell before I root for the Fagricks... I live in Dallas too and I'm not soft... Read my sig... btw, I would bet money it was redefined who wrote that crap in the mavs fanboy board...
Never ever did I say that Clutch has not gained a lot of well deserved fame. You guys are well known for that and I respect that. When I did the first post on dallas-mavs that started this thing, I said that the level of hate here goes beyond normal. You call it being proud supporters of your team. I guess it's the whole "freedom fighter v. terrorist" point of view. As far as history, the Mavs sucked in the 90s ok.You obviously were not going to see a lot of proud mavs walking the streets. That makes sense. There are a lot of people over at dallas-mavs though that have been fans of the team for a long time.
People..People... Why can't we all just get along! Lets forget our petty differences and recognize what makes us the same... We all hate the Lakers and think Kobe is a whiny beyatch!
dallas fans complaining??!! get out of town i always find it funny when they call yao soft...but they have dirk.
Exactly...that's what we've been saying. Even during the Steve Francis years, you saw plenty of Rockets apparel around town. Personally, I invested more of my time in the Rockets around the Steve Francis years than I ever have before or have since.
I don't understand why a Rockets fan can't be a homer. Isn't the whole point of being a fan to root for your team no matter the circumstance?
Well, yeah, I guess. But if the Lakers drop to #8 I'm going to want the whiney Kobe's Lakers to beat the Flopmaster's Mavericks. endrity, why don't you grow up? The "hatred" you speak of is only shared by a minority of people here. Most Rockets fans don't like the Mavs and if that bothers you then go away. It's no different than what most here feel about the Spurs or what most Mavs fans feel about both the Spurs and Rockets.
I don't hate the Suns. I fear them because we match up terribly with them and they drive me crazy. I'm not too fond of Raja Bell or even Amare Stoudamire, but I have no problem with Steve Nash or Shawn Marion. I used to hate the Jazz and Sonics in the early to mid-nineties but now could care less about the Sonics. I still kind of hate the Jazz because Jerry Sloan is still their coach but I have no problem with any of their players these days. I do hate the Mavs and the Spurs, though oddly enough, I don't hate Tim Duncan. It's hard to hate him. He is a good guy and he isn't a whiner or a flopper like Dirk, Manu, Tony Parker or any of those other guys. That about covers my hatred - Jerry Sloan, the Spurs minus Tim Duncan, the Mavs in their entirety - oh, and Mike James. I don't like him either. But that's it! Nobody else comes to mind.
