I finally downloaded Sopcast and started watching Rockets games on it. I must say, one thing that's driving me nuts is how different the McDonald's and KFC foods in China are, plus they look a heck of a lot better better than what they serve here. I want me some "No double sword of the chicken wing" (or what the damn thing is called) from KFC.
Why the hell would anyone wants to eat at KFCs in China? Don't they have a lot of good Chinese foods over there?
I gota tell ya, all the fast foods place in China are much much better than what they have here, KFC, MCDOND.., PIZZA HUT, you name it, they have more variety to choose from, and they taste ten times better. I think it is because the meat there is more fresh since they don't put it in the refrigerators for over a year before using it, and they also includes some kind of Chinese cooking in it, in other words, they cook better. Well, not just for fast food, Foods in China is much better than everywhere else in the world in general.
Also, Hong Kong has the best food in the whole world, not just Chinese food, and they also have the most variety to choose from.
Well, not just that, in the U.S., don't count out sugar too... But not with traditional Chinese food, or the foods that Chinese people eat.
The commercial that I always get a kick out of is the Bugles commercial where the kid goes flying around the stadium snatching up all the bugles. And the Damon Jones shoe commercial is hilarious because it makes Damon Jones look like a freaking basketball master.
I don't know about China, but the McDonald's joints in Korea are exactly the same as in North America. The only difference I have seen is that there is a special burger that isn't available back home called the "Big Tasty" which is pretty much just a really big ass half pound burger with lots of stuff. I have had two Big Macs since I've been here (two too many if you ask me, but had little choice in each case...) and there was no difference from any other Micky D's. Also, there's a common saying about the Chinese that I have learned while in Asia: They eat anything with legs except for a table. They eat anything that flies except for an airplane. They eat anything under the sea except for a submarine.
The food is pretty good in Hong Kong but I would put Singapore past Hong Kong in terms of variety and availability of variety. You can get the same stuff in Hong Kong as in Singapore but its not always as easy to find where as in Singapore if you walk into any Hawkers Center (food court) you've got a great variety of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western food. The biggest difference I noticed between the fast food places in Asia and in the US is the variety of stuff they serve. I think in the US there is a tacit agreement between the fast food places that burger places won't serve fried chicken on the bone or pizza but there is no agreement over there so McDonalds will serve fried chicken and pizza. The other thing is that they will have local promotions such as for Chinese New Years McDonalds had the Prosperity and Longevity meals, the looked like the McRib with different sauces and wedge fries. One thing I noticed about KFC in Hong Kong was that it looked they were looking to market themselves as more of a family restaurant than a fast food place and emphasized meal deals than fast snack food.
The Big Tasty is availabe here in Minnesota. Maybe its not available in all US markets. I'm surprised though that McDonalds doesn't have McBulgogi or some sort of burger with kimchee. My dad told me that saying but he said it only applied to Cantonese.
The funniest thing about Asia is that there are more KFC's there than anywhere in the US. There like starbucks over there; one on every corner and are always packed full of people and yes they tastes better.

Of course, it's is not anywhere near 1/2 pound, it's a 1/4 with lots lots of mayo and ketchup plus lots of lettuce and a big slice of tomato, onions, and pickles. You can get it everywhere. It's basically the McDLT except minus the cheese and the awkward gimmick. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UTSdUOC8Kac"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UTSdUOC8Kac" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Pizza Hut is positioned differently in Asia. It's actually a sit-down casual dining restaurant that's closer to a chili's than your regular fast food restaurants. All fast food in Asia tastes better than here. The workers there actually care about their job.
Pizza Hut used to be that way here as well. You can still find them randomly. BTW, their new pizza is great! Not normally a big fan of Pizza Hut, but we had some peeps over on Friday and ordered a few. Good stuff.
