Why are the 1-5 Astros, with months of the baseball season left, always big on the first page of the sports section and the Rockets with the 6th best record in the NBA heading into the playoffs hardly ever there? I would like to see more coverage and enthusiasm brought by the local newspaper being made for the Rockets.

maybe if we can get past the second round (which we will by the way), and make a LOT of noise in the playoffs, we can get some recognition and respect. Local fans are very fickle minded....the formula is simple...just WIN

In Houston, it's 1) Football 2) Baseball 3) Basektball ...the only exception is when a team is doing really well (Rockets in the mid-90's, Astros the past few seasons)

Its been like this since the dawn of time. Texans made it worse (not that I am complaining). The day SI put NHL hockey on the cover over the Rockets is when I started cutting.

    I believe it's actually 1) baseball, 2) football, 3) basketball.

This comes up every year after baseball season starts. The only time the Rockets get anything like halfway decent coverage is between the Super Bowl and the start of baseball. Drives most of us here crazy, but there you go. Once the playoffs start, it'll improve.

I stopped complaining and canceled my Chronicle subscription.

If the Rockets advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs, the coverage will intensify dramatically. As an NBA city, Houston has fair weather fans. The Chronicle mirrors that.
