Got this idea from watching the Broken Pixels segments from the 1UP Show. The worst game I have played is probably the Superman game on the N64. I'd describe it, but it would probably be easier to show a video of it (via Broken Pixels): <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" width="420" height="405" id="gamevideos6" align="middle"><param name="quality" value="high"><param name="play" value="true"><param name="loop" value="true"><param name="scale" value="showall"><param name="wmode" value="window"><param name="devicefont" value="false"><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"><param name="menu" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="salign" value=""><param name="movie" value="http://www.gamevideos.com:80/swf/gamevideos11.swf?embedded=1&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&src=http://www.gamevideos.com:80/video/videoListXML%3Fid%3D4356%26ordinal%3D1175989017083%26adPlay%3Dfalse" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /> <embed src="http://www.gamevideos.com:80/swf/gamevideos11.swf?embedded=1&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&src=http://www.gamevideos.com:80/video/videoListXML%3Fid%3D4356%26ordinal%3D1175989017083%26adPlay%3Dfalse" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" play="true" loop="true" scale="showall" wmode="window" devicefont="false" id="gamevideos6" bgcolor="#000000" name="gamevideos6" menu="true" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" align="middle" height="405" width="420"/></object> The bad thing was that I thought it was kind of cool at first, thanks to the ability to fly around in a 3D world and use Superman's powers. But it wasn't very fun at all, as you can tell. Luckily, I played it at a friend's house, so I didn't pay any money for it. I still feel like I was ripped off though. I also played a RPG for the PS1 that I believe was called Shadow Madness. I think I only played it for an hour or so before deciding that I didn't like it. And in those days, I would usually play a game for much longer than that, even if I didn't like it (especially if it was a RPG). Probably didn't help that it came out around the same time as FF8, FF8, Xenogears, Star Ocean 2, Suikoden 2, etc., though. There are probably some other really bad games that I can't remember at the moment. There are also some terrible games that I probably liked (such as the Power Rangers fighting game on the SNES IIRC ).
Pac-Man World 2 for Game Cube was pretty awful. It had an arcade in the game where you could play all of the original Pac-Man games, but to do that you had to play the lame Pac-Man World for hours to collect enough tokens to unlock the arcade. (It was free with the Cube)
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=68700722 take your pick. i did play ET for the atari WAY back in the day.. and boy was that bad.
Shaq-Fu Although me and my friends LOVE the SNES back in the day, they had some pretty putrid titles...
E.T. in a landslide.....that game forced me to consider taking a dump on every bag of Reese's Pieces I've seen since then.
Anyone ever read Ultra Game Players magazine? They had a great review of some game called Cosmic Race, I think for the N64. It was flying cars, and such a terrible game, you could fly under the track.
My brother, sister, and I played the heck out of our ET game. Sounds like we were probably the only ones who did...
I used to have some dragon ball z game when I was a kid on my playstation that needed some special converter and all this crap, but it was all in japanese and cartoon 2d piece of ****!
When playing Jeopardy on the Commodore 64, 3 answers in a row were "Columbus" for some reason--even though that made no sense. So, on the next question, I put in "Columbus". The computer crashed.
There are so many, though E.T. for the Atari 2600 has to be at or near the top of the list. Someone gave me the original MS Flight Simulator once as a gift. I'd never actually fallen asleep while playing a game until I tried that one. Oh, and another one: Sorcerer made by Mythicon for the Atari 2600. With graphics that were amateurish at best, gameplay that was ridiculously repetitive, and an AWUL Irish jig playing over and over in the background, playing that game was like having your gums scraped. http://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-2600/sorcerer_
I will add my vote to the ET total. That game had no point and there was really nothing you could do. If you wan't to fall in a pit over and over again, go try to dig up a copy, otherwise play ANYTHING else.
Speaking of pits, do you know that Atari dumped the majority of ET cartridges into a pit, themselves? Plenty o' crappy games out there. Atari had the majority, though. There was nothing like bugging your parents for a $30 game, and getting sick of it in 5 minutes. I swear, to this day, I have more fond nostalgia for Buckner & Garcia than I ever did for an Atari Game. But, River Raid was still awesome.
