Not to mention an administration that wants peace rather than war, as well as one that will view the intel with more objectivity.

Remember Lawrence Eagleburger who was a war supporter said that he knew members of the Bush administration and might include Bush, who were hoping diplomacy would fail, so that they could go to war. They were hoping for war, not a peaceful resolution.

The concept seems to be so unbelievable to some people that they are still in denial about it.

I don't know why nor do I think it matters. Obviously they felt on some level war would be a good thing. I don't think anyone who wants war, wants it because they think it is fun. It doesn't matter why they want it, it's just plain wrong to hope for it. When you have an administration where multiple top level officials are hoping that peaceful negotiations fall through because they prefer a war, we have a problem.

I think Eagleburger said 5 or 6 out of the names given him were hoping for that. Some of the names on the list were Powell, Rice, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, etc. We can probably guess that Powell wasn't on the list, though he did his part to make it happen. These are people who are hoping no peaceful settlement can be reached.

What a sad state of affairs.

Lots of bold because lots of important info. And we learn that "Senior Officials" means at least Libby, Hadley, Rumsfeld, and Tenet. We also learn that this is the briefing that Cheney based his pre-war (and current) talking points on. Now, where's the President?

    It's simple,God spoke to George. :)

Now more than ever,I really do believe that God spoke to Bush with Latin america in mind.
While the war on terror continues, the Left in Latin America is up and running. no coups,no death squads to stop the people from voting,Jewish communities are no longer terrorized.....
I wish the victims of reagan's doctrine could see this now.

Sorry If I sound like a broken record, but It amazes me how the perpetrators of war crimes and supporters of terrorism, during the 80's, were able to get promoted and create this mess known as IRAQ.These Neo-conservatives should never be trusted

Since no one else has taken this on I will.

You do understand that it was a deliberate part of our strategy to make Iraq a magnet for Al Qaeda? If there is Al Qaeda there in Iraq now it is to get us.

I understand that you're new to this board but you keep on bringing stuff up that has been debated ad nauseum not just here but in pretty much every news forum and on op-ed pages since 2002.
