back and forth. great game to watch, but disappointing outcome. looking forward to the season opener.
That was a very exciting game, but obviously a tough loss. So frustrating that the ref had his whistle in his mouth just before the Gimenez goal in OT . . .
It's a tough call. At the time he had the whistle in his mouth, Gimenez hadn't made a move towards goal. It should have been blown at that time. On the other hand, I can't blame the ref for giving it one more second to see what might happen. It was a hell of a shot...one of the best I've seen in a while. Wells could do absolutely nothing. You can't get anymore upper 90 than that was.
I completely agree, I'm not sure he should have blown the whistle or not - it's very close. It's just frustrating as a fan to have it happen that way. Having said that, officiating was terrible last night on many calls, including many that benefited the Dynamo. There were just far too many incorrectly called plays overall including Pachuca's first goal, Pachuca's 2nd penalty, Dynamo's first goal, and handball non-call against Dynamo.
Me and about 15 other Dynamo fans went to the game, I´m in the Mexico City bus station now wasting time at an internet cafe. The game was incredable even though the result wasn´t good. We had guards around us the whole game but the fans there were all friendly. We traded scarves and jerseys with random fans and took pictures with them. We had about 60 cops in riot gear escort us out and we rode in the back of their trucks back to the hotel. Overall it was an amazing experience. For the team to hang in there and fight the way they did made the trip worth it. And Pachuca played very well, we gave them all they could handle but they came out on top.
Of course, you have to post a slideshow or a manually-created way of showing us the pictures here of your experience, DrLudicrous. Cool stuff, man. Thank you in advance.
The battery on my camera is crap so it was dead before the game started but I'll post some of what I got before. A couple of pictures from one of the mountains around Monterrey. The team warming up I was trying to get a shot of the banner but by the time one side was down the other side was already going up. The Houston fans before the game. This was in the hotel lobby were we stayed, is there any better combination than a naked woman and a soccer ball? Other people have more of the game/post game and I'll post them later if I can.
