Not really cause there's only a small minority on the bonzi, novak, vspan train..but sura has a huge following for some reason.
because he had the hustle and intangibles to go along with natural talent. He wasn't called the X-factor for nothing. If he was still healthy then Rafer wouldn't even be here, MJ might have been traded for PF help. If Rafer still was traded here, he would no doubt be backup.
Yes I know what sura brings, but my point is he played not even one full season for the rockets, yet he's glorified here as if he had played his whole career for the rockets.
i don't think anyone is asking for his number to be retired. It's just that Rafer is pissing so many people off that we yearn for Sura alot.
This is the ultimate salt-in-the wound thread. The basketball gods bestow us with the greatest of centers, and then smite every pg we ever have ever had with tremendous scorn. I'm still cool with that.
ya, u know, that time when the first few times i saw him playing in the court i said who the hell this guy is, he never passed the ball to Yao But gradually i had to love this guy. anyone still remember the gesture "three" when he, Barry and Tmac hit a three? and also we got (2?,3?) 8-streak victory that season! what a season! (expect we lost to Dallas)
Bob Sura is Daniel Craig's relative? Bob Sura is Daniel Craig's relative? Are they alike? If Bobby has to retire, he has the potential to be the next 007!! That we can also to enjoy his gesture from the movie
Did Sura ever dunk while he was with the Rockets? I've never seen it... He was clutch, and tough. He was a 'glue' guy, like Deke. Is it asking for too much for him to suit up one last time for us for the playoffs?
It may seem that way- but recall how our offense was sputtering and ineffective until he came in and became our point guard-pit bull! He will never be forgotten for coming in in January '05 and leading us to a special season. Bobby was so mentally tough and determined as a leader - everyone on that team was inspired.....
it doesnt matter how long sura played, it was his impact on the game and the team as a whole. It wouldnt take a basketball genius to see that he in fact did help this team greatly. I think he really gave the rockets and identity, which they have struggled to gain since he's been gone.
umm Bob Sura didnt join the team in January he played the very beginning of the season, got injured, and we got Mike James. Then Sura came back and we had both Mike James and Sura as PG's. That was awesome.
The ROX big problem / weak link is PG !!!!!!!!! A PG is the true QB of the team. And Rafer would be a nice backup put not a starter.. While Sura was not flashy he was tough, smart, and had a fire to win with fair physical tools..
I can't wait until his jersey is up in the rafters, next to other Rockets greats. Retire Sura's number, Les.
Sura was bad ass. Loved his personnality with the team. And he grabbed ALL of the medium range rebounds on those long 3pt shots. He owned that area. The Sura/Barry/James troika was awesome. That 04/05 team was one of my all time fav Rockets teams. That end of the season run was really fun. What I loved most about that team was their "swagger". You could just feel it, it just dripped right off them. I think with Battier/Hayes we have some of that grit we had in Sura. But what we dont have is the firey vocal leader(s) now that we did back them. Although one of those 3 guys is still in the league. Maybe he could return.
