My feeling on the game ... unfreakin-fortunately for one, the Rox came out sleep walking and dug a hole. They played great D but the O was completely OFFENSIVE! Yao brought it today (though he could have dunked 3 or 4 MORE times instead of cliffhanger finger rolls), same for T-Mac. I love T-Mac but he did not look REALLY all that focused today on this game. I expected more out of him. Finally, YES, the refs were atrocious! At least 2 or 3 flops by the Jac-Azz bailed out by the refs when should have been either offensive fouls or no calls at all. The continuation on T-Mac disallowed, What??? Continuation on Yao disallowed again!!! Unbelievable! Bottom line, now we have to depend on other teams to do what we SHOULD have done ourselves! DAMN, we never make it easy for ourselves, the Rox! Played great D, all that was wasted. Hopefully this loss doesn't come back to bite us.
defense on boozer and deron williams was good however. that is probably what the series will come down to. tmac will be fine and we'll score on them, tonite was just an bad offensive game, as long as we stop them, we'll be OK. But the Jazzholes are better than I thought.
It was close because of Rox D. The only thing basically the Rox did wrong is not but the biscuit in the basket enough. That WAS playoff defense today and we would have won had the refs actually studied the freakin rule book. That one #31 (ref) needs to be sent back to pee wee leagues. That foul he called on Battier when Battier CLEARLY had position was utterly pathetic! Bottom line, just enough cheating by the Jac-Azz, plus a few too many misses by the Rox and a few game changing calls by the zebras and we miss it by that little bit. Aggravating! I hate UTAH forever!!! Remember 97 Rox, get some DAMN revenge in the playoffs, please!!!
They're luckier because they're trained by Sloan the Slug on how to cheat nothing has changed about this DAMN team! I still hate them more than the Mavs even and I always will.
How do the Jazz cheat? I've seen that Stockton shot 1000 times atleast, and Malone didn't do anything illegal. The Jazz won tonights game because they had to sit one of their stars for almost 3/4 of the game, so come the 4th quarter Boozer wasn't winded. also, the Jazz executed down the stretch better.
He bearhugged Drexler on National freakin TV! Did you watch game 6? If so, don't commenting on what you DON'T know! Hello redneck, they flop around like their angling for oscars. You can't see that? Battier's fifth foul he had position and had hands straight up and he got screwed with that rook #31 zebra giving Hairspray 2 plus the foul. Several times Yao got hacked and NO calls. Sloan is a slug and he always will be and yes, it IS illegal to bearhug on a pick to get a player open but the refs conveniently swallowed the whistle giving us one of the most bitter pills to swallow EVER! Correction, well maybe Phoenix with backtoback chokefests in 94 and 95 better than. It must have sucked being in Phoenix for the next two weeks at least. Thanks Mario! The Kiss of Death, baby!!!
I'll agree with that part at least. It came down to execution. The final 90 seconds were awful. I can't stand the dude, but Jerry Sloan is a better coach than JVG. I don't dislike JVG, and I realize we could certainly do a lot worse, but we have two guys on our roster who command double teams and we've struggled to have good offensive possessions in the 4th quarter of way too many games this year. We will never be more than an also-ran with JVG at the helm of this team. I like the guy, I really do, but he's not going to take us to the next level. We beat the teams we're supposed to beat (which is an improvement from the Rudy T days) but we can't compete against the teams that are equal to us. We can do a lot worse, but we can also do a lot better. Not making it out of the first round of the playoffs this year might be a blessing in disguise. It's time for a regime change.
It isn't a bear hug, besides the contact was mutual. In todays pussified NBA that would be a foul, but 10 years ago it wouldn't have been because the contact had no bearing on the play. Maloney, or thats who I think was guarding Stockton, didn't pick up his man. The only ones who cry about that "call" are a few sparse Rocket fans, most people see it for what it was a good no call.
Also, you only see the camera focusing on Stockton not what Malone did. If they actually showed the full footage of the play unfolding you would have seen why a lot of us vintage rocket fans hate Utah! If they had won fair and square I would have grudgingly accepted it but, Malone can't help himself. He flopped around so much he should have been in LaLa land accepting oscars for his perfomances! Ever wondered why Utah has few if any fans anywhere outside of Utah? Any other team has a smattering of a following anywhere even if only a couple. There was NO one at the Rox game today wearing a Jac-Azz jersey, not one! Houston is not the only team and its fans that hate Utah. Magic and the Lakers they had wars with them, basically Phoenix, SA and any other team in the West worth mentioning.
Rocket fans hated the Jazz well before that play happened, I think the hatered comes from the Billy Paultz fight from like 83 in the playoffs.
85 playoffs. Then Akeem's rookie season. 84-85. Yes, but the love REALLY flowed when Sloan became the coach. Layden was a class act compared to that jackass.
TMAC is a proven sore whine loser baby all the way back to his Orlando days... Hopefully, he can pass the first round this season after all those years, and if he do what he suppose to do, there's shouldn't be a problem with Yao as his teammate. Put Mac and Yao together, they're a playoff team. Put Kobe and Yao together, they're a championship team.
