I know this is a long shot, but does anyone know where I can catch the Rockets game in Pittsburgh tonight? I've been through all this before, calling over town looking for NBA League Pass and striking out (this town is very down on the NBA), but I'm dying to see this game. I could make the very long drive to Dave and Buster's to pay way too much and watch it on a tiny screen above the bar, but I'd really rather find another way.
RM95: I'm in Lawrenceville, but I'd go pretty much anywhere. I'd even go to Dave and Buster's if it wasn't a 30 minute drive, in hard rain, to drink $4 Buds and crane my neck to watch it on a tiny TV way above the bar with no sound. In fact, I might do that anyway. But any advice you or anyone can give would be very much appreciated.
Dude, go to the Rhythm House in Bridgeville. Hottest bartenders around. Wednesday night is the best night there. btw -- They know The_Conquistador there.
I've posted a thread at The Sportsfrog. They have quite a few posters in Pittsburgh. I'm about to head out to a couple movies and won't be back until after the game. Click the link above, click Swamp, and see if there are any responses. You can probably find the thread title on your own.
Thanks Jorge, but I'm not looking for hot bartenders. I'm trying to watch the game. And they don't have League Pass.
Thanks, 95. I just checked all those bars out. Two are closed today (neither has LP) and Hi-Tops never answers the phone, but seems to be closed today as well judging by their VM message. I'm registering on Sports Frog now so I can follow up. Thanks for the help. If anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears.
How much does it cost for a bar to order league pass. Seriously, it pisses me off when bars don't have league pass. I mean you throw down for 46 inch plasmas and you have sports memorabilia on the wall, but you cant afford the few hundos for league pass. f'in cheapskates.
The thing is people just don't care about NBA basketball in this town. In fact, if they care at all it's because they hate it. I've gotten bartenders to put on the game when it's been on ESPN or TNT and I always get no shortage of heckling from the crowd about how it's not a real sport.
I think it costs a lot more for a bar to order it than an individual. Batman, I think you'll enjoy the Swamp if you hang around at all.
You could try one of the Silky's. They might be willing to put the game on for you (although they may not have League Pass, I dunno). There's one in Squirrel Hill, and there's one on Liberty near Baum. I know there are others, but those are the two I've been to.
Hey Vengeance, Thanks for the suggestion, but neither of them has LP. I used to be a regular at the Liberty location and I've been to the one in SH too. Do you live in Pittsburgh? And, if so, do you want to meet up at Dave and Buster's in a couple hours? It's looking like they might actually be the only bar in Pgh with LP, as hard as that is to believe.
Depends what part of the city you're in. But as you can imagine it's probably very hard to find a bar that actually has league pass. Dave & Buster's on the Waterfront sucks but I guess it might be your only option. I used to bartend at Sports Rock Cafe in the Strip and I can promise you they're too cheap to pay the LP fee. The internet is quite the creepy place otherwise i'd invite ya over for beers and to watch it on my 60-inch. You in town on business?
I'm in Lawrenceville, but man I'd watch it anywhere. As it turns out, D&B seems to really be the only option. And I totally understand being sketchy about inviting a stranger into your house. I came to town in the fall on business (to direct a play), met a woman, fell in love and stuck around. We got a place in Lawrenceville, but we're moving out of town in a few months. Post here again if you want to meet up at a bar for a playoff game. Those will, thankfully, be on national TV so we wouldn't have to go to D&B. That goes for any Rockets fans here in Pgh. I always love to meet clutchfans.
I would love to, but unfortunately I live in Chicago now. I miss Pittsburgh though. There isn't a huge NBA contingent in Pittsburgh, so it is pretty difficult to find games there.
How do you like Pittsburgh? Pittsburgh is part of my territory and I absolutely hate going there. Luckilly, I make my own schedule so I avoid it as much as possible. Pittsburgh itself isn't terrible but traffic for a city that size is ridiculous. Bridgeville, Monroeville, and all the surrounding "townships" are dumpy (other than Cranberry). Have you eaten at Primanti Brothers or Sesame Inn? Two musts. Next time Im there (hopefully never), let's grab dinner.
There's that one big sports bar in the Strip District... dont' remember what it's called, but it's huge. I love watching football in Pittsburgh, people are sooooo into it.
Bumping an old thread for a good reason..... Any of you guys in the Pittsburgh area want to meet up for game three? It's a little late now to meet up for game two but if any of you guys are down post here or shoot me an email.
