Last night I realized just how fun it is to watch the Rockets bench cheer on the rest of the team. As I looked at the lifeless Laker bench, I could imagine that Lakers fans were really annoyed by all the excitement. Sure enough, there were some amusing comments on Lakersground.

I love the Rockets. :p

They do stand up a lot. It must get pretty annoying for the fans behind them.

Laker fans complaining? How about seeing Turiaf bust out in a dance on the bench for no reason.... :D

The lakers bench players are right, why should they care? This is Kobe's team and they are paid only because Kobe needs another 4 guys to play with him because 1 vs 5 is illegal.

In today's basketball games, if a player constantly takes more than half of the shots that his team can get every night, then his team mates will feel that they are irrelevant - win or lose, it's Kobe's business.

I might be the odd man out, bu I find it to be very immature. The only genuine fan on the Rockets bench is Deke. I don't think anyone else gives a damn. Howard has been in the league how many years now? Why is it all of a sudden he's up too. Makes no sense to me. JLIII might show the second most enthusiasm but I know for sure V-Span could care less, yet he's always up too.

It's real annoying. They make an open 3 and they all get up. Grow up Rockets, this isn't the YMCA. I mean of course, if it's an exciting, spectacular play, then by all means get up and go crazy. But for typical ordinary plays, remaining seated and clapping your hands will suffice.

IMO, the three teams in Texas are the hungriest in the league. Say what you want about this team's talent, they definantly bring focus and intensity every single night.

I understand why Turiaf would stand up and cheer. He had a life-threatening heart condition.

Dayum, are you a Lakers Troll? YMCA? This one of the best things about this Rockets Team. They epitomize "team" and cheering for each other during a game simply shows the rest of the NBA why we Rockets fans think our team is special. I think the bench is awesome and probably started getting cheering on their own team by seeing the Red Rowdies at home and on the road get crazy.

I disagree. I think JVG actually tells his bench to be enthusiastic. It's part of their job. If they're not going to be out on the court, they should help the guys out on the floor by giving them encouragment.

    I like it a lot.

I think opera might be more suitable for you, I'm not so sure about that, but definitely not basketball, especially not Rockets basketball.

I fully support the bench standing up, especially since they were IN Staples Center, one of the scariest arenas to play in.

And remember people, assuming people's intentions makes an ass out of YOU and ME! :p

Man you can't hate on Turiaf, he's so happy just to be able to play he cheers for everything. I like that guy a lot. I got respect for him, the same respect for Juwan Howard because he also had a heart condition yet he's here everyday working hard and being a pro.

Turiaf is like a little kid, it must be nice to see someone that excited about their team.

i love it, I dont see how its immature, its a sign of unity. Loved it when everybody in the playoffs stood up in the Mavs/Rockets series, even Vin Baker look like a 14 year old on the bench with him getting gitty with Padgett.

hell, even I stand up every game until they score a basked along with 10 other guys in my section, thats freaking being UNITED :)

That's different and understandable - he doen't have to be on the court to face Yao if Kwame can play better, so Yeah, Go Kwame! :D

Lakers troll?? Heck no!! I hate that team more than any other team in this league.

I say this because I saw some other NBA team (don't remember which one) who show just as much enthusiasm on the bench as we do. It didn't bother me at first what we were doing. But after watching what that team did, I was like man, that's what we actually look like. Take the bias factor away and put yourself in the opposing fan's shoes, and that's how I came up with my conclusion.

Like I mentioned earlier, Deke and JLIII are the only exception because they are genuine about it.
