I know I am going to be burned by hardcore Jordan fans, but seriously, the guy is playing at an unbelievable level. With the whole night being the sole focus of Rox defense, others may be exhausted long time ago, but he still could put on a show at the end of the game. He almost single-handedly beat an elite team. And he did it numerous times.

Consider that Jordan had a far greater supporting cast, and consider that Jordan was defended one on one while Bryant has always been defended by two or three guys, sometimes the entire opponent team, I can not stop wondering, how Bryant compare with Jordan? To me, Bryant has superior offensive skills, at least.

Now, how many of the Lakers starting lineup would start in other teams? There is maybe one for sure, Odom, but he has not been playing a lot. In such a mediocre team, whoever great player in the history would have done a better job than Bryant (The Lakers' the 6th seed in the tough Western)?

Apparently, I would not even compare Bryant with other big time guard other than Jordan.

Jordan won 6 by himself in a tougher era while he was the first option

Kobe won 3 as the second option

to be honest with you...you must be pretty young if you cant remember how jordan played

    Jordan's FG% was around 55-60 as a guard...he is legendary

    to put it simply

Jordan wouldnt have left the game till the last 11 seconds to decide whether they can win or not

I am 100% sure that if Jordan and Kobe swapped

    we would have lost

That is truly ignorant to say that Jordan won 6 by HIMSELF. Jordan had a crazy good supporting cast, especially for his 2nd threepeat. He always had Scottie at his side, who was amazingly good. If you don't recognize that, look at how the Bulls did when Jordan was retired. Scottie led the Bulls to 50+ wins without Mike, proving that not only was Scottie really good, but they had a great supporting cast to boot. For rings 4-6, the Mike had Pippen, Rodman, and Harper (20+ PPG scorer on the Clippers before the Bulls). In addition, they had a number of other guys such as Kerr and Kukoc. I cannot even begin to understand how Jordan ever won a title by himself. If anyone did, it was Hakeem in '94.

MJ might have the stats on his side but I would rather have the ball in Kobe's hands at the end of a game. Kobe has hit just as many if not more crazy game winning hoops.
To the person that said MJ avg 55-60% FG- WRONG 49.7%
I personally dont care for either of them (Hakeem was my man) but I have watched them both and I dont ever remember Jordan having a game like Bryant did against the Raptors (28-46 FG, 18-20 FT and 7-13 3PTFG)

Kobe is just as good as Jordan if not better, but Jordan has accomplished more than him, but remember, this guy is still something like 27 or 28, and already has three rings, and accomplished a ton, and break tons of records, Jordan didn't even start to win until his 30s, and at the pace Kobe is going, he's not going to stop...

Kobe is better than anyone else that I could of remember approaching the last couple minutes of the game.

Hate him all you want, but you want to admit this guy is just amazing...

that may be because the rules are different today,if jordan played in todays game he would go off like crazy, i'm pretty that with those rules, jordan would have a longer streak of 50 points than bryant. Are you crazy man,at the end of the game the ball is jordan's ball nobody did it on a bigger stage ,kobe?when where, when they won the 3 titles do you know who was known as the clutch shooter?it wasn't bryant for sure

better on the defensive side?i don't know what games you are looking at but i am sure that you don't watch a lot lakers games.and just to make my point you should read tex winter article.the reason why he did not say that kobe will never be as good as jordan was because he is still working with kobe

Why do people keep asking this. Jordan is one of the players who might be the best ever. Kobe is not even the best player today.

Sure kobe can score, but he has never won a championship without Shaq. and shaq was the best player in those years. Jordan won six championships were he was by far the best player on his team.

People asking this question must not remember how good Jordan was.

Jordan was the one player you would want the ball in its hands in the final second. a lot of times in the play-offs in the bulls championship years, it was a tight game, but knowing Jordan was in the game made me always know the bulls would win.

Kobe has a more complete offensive skillset, and arguably a better scorer and/or offensive player. Jordan was a better winner and a MUCH better defender. Jordan was also on a better team. Many of you forgot how good the bulls were without Jordan (50+ games), and added Rodman and Harper in his later years. In short, Jordan was put into a better position to win and look good doing it; he also was one of the only ones capable of doing it. You can't say Kobe would have duplicated Jordan's success because he was never put into the same situation and even if he was, I don't know if he's smart enough to make it all click.

I bet Kobe's the better scorer, but Jordan did play in a tougher era, you have to admit that.

Honestly (assuming this is Kobe's prime), who would you rather have at their prime? That's the question.

Kobe hasn't won anything as the main guy of the team, and you can say all you want about how great Jordan's supporting cast was, he was the main guy of his team and he is a 6 time champion and what, 3 time MVP?

Kobe's definitely going to be an all time great and a 50 best player, but he's just not quite up there with Jordan in my opinion. He's definitely the closest comparison though.
