Should Bonzi get some minutes at Head's expense?

So we all know that Luther's shot has been going downhill as the season has progressed...in March he shot under 40% overall and 39% from 3point land.

I think he is still our best clutch shooter and more consistent than Battier, but apparently JVG said that he's still considering whether to play Bonzi or not in his 610 interview yesterday.

So my question is this: would you like to see Bonzi get some - significant - playing time instead of Head (from Thunderthighs, snicker snicker)? Would you be amenable to Bonzi playing 3 quarters, and Luther coming in in the final quarter?

Personally, I think Bonzi would be an asset in the playoffs...but to whom? Will he be trying to play for a contract like he did last year? He's a mismatch on the court because of his strength and size, but will those turnovers get better or will they cost us big?

Absolutely. Have we not seen the Rockets struggle offensively the past 2 games when Yao is no 100%? We need Bonzi's offensive firepower.

I think Bonzi will give us firepower off the bench- and when the match ups permit he is a far superior option to either Luther or Kirk.

We are 6-0 when we outrebound the opponent. Bonzi can rebound, Can score backing down on smaller defenders, and can handle and pass the ball. His only weakness seems to be the 3 point shot ( anyway Snyder is no better!)

We have to find minutes- from Rafer/Luther and to an extent Kirk- to get Bonzi. IF Tracy anyway become the Primary passer during the later stages of the game- it should not be that difficult to get Bonzi Involved.

There will be games Yao will get into early foul trouble- and the opponent will double and triple Tracy ( or Tracy has a night off, and we will not be able to get Yao the ball)- bluntly- we are not putting the best people on the floor in certain games.

JVG wasn't referring only to Head. The "mental lapses" part was probably mostly referring to Snyder. The "size" part was referring to Head and Lucas.

All those could be referring to Bonzi also:
"menta lapses"- not hustling on D, turning it over
"size"- too much, around the middle

What the heck. I've been waiting all season for Bonzi to show up and be a steal for us, why not a few more games? Although I think Bonzi's gotten plenty of chances already...

Bonzi is an idiot. He had the best chance to redeem his $36 mil mistake this season by coming in an being a total team player on a rising force in the western conference. So what does he do? He blows it by being a total punk. I'm more then a 1/2 of a player....LOL gimme a break man, anybody who turns down $36 mil guarenteed money has half a brain.

I don't expect to see him on the court unless some dramatic happens to a player or the team begins to tank and coach thinks Bonzi can shake things up a bit.

He's squandered the two multi-game stretches he's been given already - looked like he hadn't played in years both times. His scoring was unreliable, his awareness was awful, etc. He showed good hustle each time, but his TO and FG% were tough to bear.

I don't think we can waste any more time trying to force feed him into the lineup. It's more important that we focus on settling into a groove with both Yao and McGrady healthy (hasn't happened yet, and we've got 3 weeks left).

We haven't seen a Bonzi, Tmac, and Yao combination all year sadly. I'd like to see him get back into the rotation as he could be a difference maker for us in the playoffs.

Check your stats. I am pretty sure we have not been outrebounded in 65 of our games.

How many games has Bonzi played with Yao and Tmac and how has he done in those games?

The problem I have is that this team is first or second round fodder without Bonzi. With Bonzi, they might still be first round fodder, but at least there's the possibility of a big upside. We're only going to get there if JVG works him into the rotation soon and gets him in basketball shape for the playoffs.

The way I see it, we've got nothing to lose.

Bonzi deserves at least 5-10 mins of Head.

another reason why we wont go far in the playoffs, Jvg will shorten the bench even more,

while the other teams fire their reserves in... our guys will be sucking in air....

    :(

I sure hope other teams "fire their reserves in" and start playing scrubs that didn't play all year. You are a genius!

I was talking about the recent games- not the history.

Replace snyder and head with bonzi. Our backcourt suddenly becomes bigger, our rebounding goes up, our bball iq goes up, our body fat % goes up, but our 3pt % goes down :(

It's one or the other: Snyder or Bonzi. I don't think there's room for both. Luther still needs to get minutes because he's too good of a shooter.

Luther's offensive efficiency has gone down considerably over the last month or so. And the scouting report says that when he comes in play a bigger player and post him up nonstop, so his defense is suffering extremely as well. We need Bonzi for a change of pace so that when we see this happening, we can go bigger and force the opponent to adjust.
