    I took mine on 05-01-92
    VERB=670
    MATH=720
    TOT=1390

    I don't know how that translates to today's scores...

    But from what i understand, that's pretty high. Yet, I'm still a Loser in my 30's living with moms and pops.

    SAT scores? **OVERRATED**

    Initiative, business sense, asthetic talent (singing/dancing/looks, etc) and powerful connections will probably get you a lot farther in life.

    I think all you guys in the United States are lucky ;)
    As I am a Chinese undergraduate, every year, there are 10 million high school students take the college entrance examination (something just like China SAT)

    And...the most horrible thing is, only 5000 are admittend into the best top 2 university in China( only these two get some fame worldwide), but when we scale them with a worldwide rank....oh.....
    our best university, TsingHua University, is out of top 100....

    When I was there about 5 years ago it was one of the least expensive private schools around. Something like 15k when I started and went up to 16.5 or so when I graduated in 2002. I was fairly surprised it had gone up so much since I graduated but at 23k a year its not bad compared to the typical private school.

    i got a 1980.. [last year.. im a senior right now]

    And i got into A&M and UT with my score [[plus class rank which some ppl have said earlier]

    but UT and A&M take 1900+ on their SATs.. but my advice to you is to retake it in may or june to see if you can do a lil better.. cause ive heard of ppl jumping 100+ points before retaking it!

    gluck!

    Wow... 5k out of 10m doesn't sound like great odds.

    Don't a lot of Chinese students study abroad?

    yeah i think a bunch of us don't know much about this 2400 point scale or how to evaluate your score. I mean, you can easily prorate what it would've been out of 1600, but I doubt that's an equivalent. Surely the averages and stuff have changed.. leave it to the people that have taken it since the change to answer this one

    Wow, that's an awesome score. At least you can take comfort in the fact that you are smarter than me. I only got 1340.

    When I went to high school, breaking 1400 was generally considered the genius level. Anyone do that?

    Pretty decent scores. Have you applied to any?

    I remember back in my days I made a 1140 (yeah so I'm dumb, so what?) and got into my dream college, UH.

    Pretty much following the footsteps of great alumni such as Hakeem, Karl Luis, Clyde, Bo Outlaw, Carl Herrera (part of the Rockets Champs team), Tom Landry (Legendary Cowboys coach), and to a lesser extent Damon Jones.

    And maybe one day after Kolb finishes a great NFL carrier I can boast about that too! :)

    It's really hard for Chinese students study abroad. someone just from rich family can afford their children abroad for the exorbitant charge.
    And, the two education systems are different. If we want to enter US college from Chinese high school directly, we should take TOEFL test and maybe SAT (only the city of Hongkang offers this test in China), as our native-language is Chinese, it's exactly a challange. Moreover, we do not have a lot opportunities to get activities in high school china, it makes us less competitive than US native students.

    most of us choose to apply for a master degree or phD in foreigh countries after our graduating from college. Lingustic difficulties come again. the GRE test is a nightmare- we usually called it "GOD READ ENGLISH".

    you know we get a population of 1.4billion China, compared with this number, our students abroad is just a particle

    iono what kind of colleges you're applying to but as long as ur top 10% you'll get into ut and the other tx public schools.

    but if you're asian [where competition is especially ridiculous for college admissions] like me and applying to the tougher private schools or whatever i would prolly consider retaking - seems like you're not that far off your goal.

    just practice or whatever - buy some of those sat study books cause they're good practice. or if you can afford to, take testmasters or some other sat prep course.

    but colleges nowadays seem to care alot more about other stuff than just high standardized test scores. i'm an example of someone who underestimated that. oh well
