After losing to the GSW, Spurs are only 2 games behind the Suns. If you take a look at the upcoming schedule, Spurs would probably take 9 of the remaining 11 games while the Suns have a brutal schedule ahead. Except the 2 guaranteed wins against Grizzlies and Supersonics, the Suns will being facing 8 teams who are fighting for playoff positions in 9 games.

If the Spurs won over the Suns on April 5th, they would hold the tie breaker (2-1, strangely they only face 3 times in this season). Considering how much better the Spurs are playing than the Suns recently, I see a strong possibility the Spurs surpass the Suns. I predict whoever grabs 60 wins will get the home court.

P.S. This actually is not good for the Rockets. If the Suns were playing a little better, they would secure the home court before the last week of the regular season, in which case, when the Rockets face a Phoenix team with nothing to gain/lose, we could get an easy win. But it comes down to that match in which both teams are still fighting for home court adventage, the Rockets will have very hard time to win over a full strength Suns team. If the Rockets couldn't beat the Suns in that game, the chance of getting the home court would be very slim unless the Jazz were in self-destruction mode in April.

    Any thoughts?

aren't we on Dallas's side of the bracket?

when we beat Utah and Dallas...nothing will matter.

    bring it.

My other prediction is: based on the current preformance and upcoming schedule, Lakers will finish at 6, Clippers at 7 and Nuggets or Warriors at 8.

If the Spurs finish at 2 and the Suns at 3, this will creat much intriguing matchups in the playoffs:

    Mavs vs Nuggets or Warriors

    Spurs vs Clippers

    Suns vs Lakers

    Rockets vs Jazz

we want the AI/Melo and Nuggets to take out Phoenix. do you know nothingboutnet

then again, it would be so cool to see the Nuggets play the Spurs. Good luck to Ginobody guarding AI while Bowen takes Melo...hahahaha

wouldn't it be a good thing if the spurs got homecourt over the suns? certainly it would give them the advantage in a potential semi-final matchup against phoenix and if we can get past utah and dallas i'd much rather face the spurs than the suns.

    gotta think long-term.

What I meant "not good for the Rockets" is for the home court battle with Jazz in the regular season. It doesn't matter if Spurs or Suns will get the home court because it has nothing to do with the Rockets in the playoffs. Personally I like Spurs and I think they will beat the Suns in the playoffs regardless if they have home court. The Rockets can't beat the Mavs, they are just too strong an oppornent, this is their year. I'd be very happy if the Rockets can win the first round and then give a gutsy performance against Mavs. When next year the Rockets find a better PG and upgrade the PFs, they will go deeper to the playoffs.

I agree completely. We have a better chance at beating SA in a 7 game series, so I'm rooting for the Spurs get home court over the Suns in the conference semis.

how about we worry about getting out of the first round first? Utah isn't a cakewalk, ya know.

The Spurs and the Suns have nothing to do with our homecourt battle. I don't see the logic.

We will let the coaches and players worry about that. As fans, we will worry about which opponent to pick for the conference finals.

I'd take giving up homecourt vs the Jazz if it meant the Spurs got homecourt against the Suns. I feel good about how we match up against the Jazz and Spurs. I would love anything that increases the odds of not going through the Suns to get to the Finals.

Besides, our 2 games vs Utah are going to be a much bigger factor than a single game (probably a loss no matter what) vs Phoenix

I dont think we will have a problem getting home court- even if we lost the final game against Utah ( obviously I would want to win every game!). Utah is a bad road team- and they have a stretch coming up starting with San Antonio. We should not drop games like the Lakers and the Blazers- which we did when Tracy was out ( for the earlier west coast trip).

Quite frankly, it really doesn't matter either way. Although in general, I like to root against the Suns as much as possible. Their style of play is simply not good for the Rockets. I really don't want to see a league running up and down against Yao. And that will happen more often if Suns achieve more success in the playoffs.

Don't worry there is only one Nash in the NBA.

i sincerely hope the clippers fall out and the nuggets and warriors both get in.. this way the mavs and suns both have 2 teams to play that can match their paces.

phoenix may very well give us that game in the last week so they can rest Nash. It will be a meaningless game for them.

I think the Rockets match up better against the Spurs than the Suns. If or when the Rockets get past the first two rounds, it'd be better to play the Spurs because there's no way they could run with Phoenix.
