Man, my allergies are really kicking my ass today. I took an Allegra-D this morning too. Itchy eyes, runny nose and sneezing...this sucks
Yeah that's been my past 4 weeks. I've barely had any allergic reactions until this year. Seems the same for lots of people. I occassionally take Claritin (non drowsy), and avoid Zyrtec otherwise I'll be a drone for the rest of the day. Mostly I just tough it out. I need a box of tissues by my side at all times now.
Don't take Zyrtec-D. That's the crap that brought on my Grand Mal Seizure a little over a year ago. It has a huge dose of ephedrine in it (speed).
I went to the Dr. yesterday, thinking I had some sort of severe infection. They informed me it was just my allergies. Instead of draining down into my throat they drained backwards into my ear. The drainage caused some equilibrium problems which caused me to be dizzy and nauseous for 3 days. Thankfully the rain and some medicine have made me feel a little better today.
I get that every year, only in my left ear, and often my eardrum seals shut, leaving me temporarily deaf in my left ear. About 8 years ago, I had to get my eardrum lanced because of it. Not fun.
allergies have been bad for everyone this so far this spring. rhinocort/nasacort and allegra-d have been life savers so far.
I'm willing to bet you are wrong, I hold the title of worst allegies ever. Did your allergies triple after 6 years of allergy shots? Are you allergic to metal? I got too much other stuff to list.
I took allergy shots for 10 years, about 5 times longer than it should have taken to develop an immunity to my list of allergies. Turns out I had toxic mold growing in my sinuses. No doctor would have ever known until the otolyrangologist who did my 3rd chronic sinusitus/polyp surgery recognized it and it actually took a 4th surgery to get it all. This is the first year of my life that I'm out there working in the yard and playing golf without a runny nose or using drugs everyday. I don't know how this applies exactly because allergies are real on their own. But I was going to these allergy doctors with the standard allergy symptoms and they would tell me they don't see any mast cells (allergic cells) in my cultures...but they were happy to bill my insurance company for shots every four weeks anyway. I'm just telling you that if your sinusitus is chronic, start with allergy shots..the needles are tiny and a little cortisone keeps them from itching. But ask your doctor about molds and sinusitus, it's a pretty new theory a harder to diagnose. An otolaryngologist who knows what she's looking for has to stick a scope way up in your sinuses and look around and you have to do an MRI to see the blockage. Gettong to actually breathing through my nose though seems worth it at this point.
You lucky dog... I'd be lucky if I get it at least ONCE per year... I try... but it gets me a slap on the face...
Mine started about a month ago and have not let up since. Every day is the same crap unless it rains for a little bit. I go through it every year but this has been the worse that I can remember. My eyes even started to swell last week and medicine doesn't seem to work any more.
