when i say 6-6+ i mean taller than that. ideally a long 6'7"-8" swingman would be great. you can never have enough long versatile swingmen. and if they can knock down the 3 or develop it (like josh howard did), all the better because you won't lose anything defensively with them. and kirk snyder is a head case.
TH will be a solid role player in the nba i dont see him being a star...the one thing he wont be able to get away with is all the fouls he commits on both ends of the floor. i've only see 3 unc games this year and it always seems he gets away with a lot. i'm sure that isnt going to happen as a rookie. chances are he will be staying for his senior year anyway. wish he was on my college team though guy runs all day and night
I doubt he comes out - I remember hearing he was in for all four years. Psycho-T isn't your typical "college star" - the kid works his tail off; he's only going to get better. He won't be a superstar, but he'll be a player in the NBA. Last year I said he needs to work on his shooting range - and he's done so. After another year under Roy, he should be able to contribute right away to an NBA team. PS: Where's jl3forprez now?
Personally, I think the best indicator of whom the Rockets should draft is whom Morey picks. That guy knows what he is doing. It'll probably be another big surprise this year.
I think morey is overrated. Scola was euroleague mvp. If he knew landry was going to be so good he probably would have signed him to more than one year contract. The jury is still out on brooks. Apparently he was the guy who did battier for gay which is also questionable. The Celtics were terrible when he was there. I don't know if Hansbrough would help this team with landry and scola.
Consider me one those predicting Hansbrough to be a disappointment in the NBA. I don't see anything in his game that will translate well at the next level. Evan
I think it all depends on what your expectations for him are. I don't think anybody, even his parents, look at this guy and think, "Wow, this is a future 20/10 player in pro's. No doubt!". His motor, energy and physicality around the basket are his biggest strengths. That, to me, translates into something like a taller Chuck Hayes/Mark Madsen type of player. Those guys aren't your "sexy" players but they certainly are valuable. He doesn't really have any moves other than his catch-and-turnaround shot that he throws up in the lane in the middle of traffic. He's improved his range and perimeter skills a bit but when push comes to shove he's still a PF when you're looking to gauge him as a pro. Athletically, he's going to be a few steps behind the elite players but at the same time I see no reason why he couldn't develop into an effective hustle, energy type of guy with a few flashes of scoring ability here & there.
Given his work ethic, I think he'll have a good NBA career. Probably not an All-Star, probably not a 12th guy journeyman.
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Tyler-Hansbrough-288/ "Worst Case Scenario: Luis Scola" Um, excuse me?
Hansbrough is going to be better than Hayes and Madsen because he's a better offensive player than both of them. He's not going to be a superstar, but the thing I'm impressed with the most when watching him is his ability to finish despite taking contact. I think it was Phil Jackson who said the biggest difference between Michael Jordan and his peers was that Jordan would always finish when he got to the rim. He can take a pounding and still get the ball into the rim, he's a hard worker and he's got a decent shot. If he were just a bit taller and have a longer wingspan he could be something special, as it is I don't see why he can't be a consistent starter in the league.
I think he fits the mold of Eduardo Najera. Spark off the bench that does all the little things while not necessarily being a threat of being a secondary of third scorer. Madsen from my recollection never had a real shooting touch, but Najera is diverse enough to dribble off the pass, is a work horse, and has a decent shot from my recollection. Chuck Hayes might be a good comparison as well. I remember the word whichever team Chuck he was on in practices would always win because of his impact and style of play. Doesn't translate as well competitively but a strong work ethic and positive attitude goes a long way in the NBA. It's why stiffs like that one Portland center that was also a Knick lasted so many years in the league. Will Purdue I believe is who I'm trying to recall. Also Ryan Bowen who is another stiff in the NBA, but his work ethic and energy keeps him in the league.
