I like both but I give Seinfeld the edge mainly due to its outstanding bit characters like The Maestro, The Soup Nazi, Kenny Bania, Jackie Chiles, and more. Plus the situations in Seinfeld may have been looney but they could actually happen unlike a lot of the things in Family Guy.
As opposed to Seinfeld's formula: Lets make a big deal about something mildly annoying that happens in everyday life yet since we're neurotic New Yorkers we obsess about it. Family Guy is formulaic but as a cartoon it can get away with bizzare non-sequitors whereas if you watch a few Seinfeld episodes they become predictable.
Seinfeld rules!! The Family Guy is funny for sure. But it's not in the same league IMHO. The way Seinfeld interweaved story lines, brought jokes full circle and applied them to other characters with in the same episode (or years later) was pure genius.
I love Family Guy; it's one of my favorite comedies. With that said, it's not even close to Seinfeld. Nothing will ever compare to Seinfeld.
You didn't see my entire post? I said I did find it funny, but it's not AS funny as Seinfeld. What's funnier about Seinfeld it's that they can make stuff that is everyday annoying to most posters here into a situation that involves ALL the characters at the end... that's genius, man... let me see FG do that... If you like Seinfeld, you typically have a higher level of education than a person that doesn't... generally speaking... not EVERYONE, might I add. And, no, I have no research about that. I just KNOW IT.
I tried to watch Seinfeld a few times and never laughed once. Just couldnt get into it. Family Guy on the other hand is hilarious. I love all the 80's pop culture references.
Not even close I love famil guy but SEAINFELD>>>>>>>>>>>>>.FAMILY GUY seinfeld is the best show ever imo
Noooooo f-ing way!!! Ok so I have been a Seinfield fan for only about 5 years now. But you are comparing apples to oranges, or to be more precise, Mercedes to a Scion, the Scion being Family guy which will do just about anything to get cheap laughs and attention. It has no class and it has these long drawn out sequences which intrigue the viewer and when they are all said and done, they usually disappoint, but they make it obvious that there was no attempt to cleverly fill 22 minutes or airtime. It has its good laughs or two per episode, but seinfeld is GOLD.
Getting all of the characters involved in the end isn't all that difficult especially when you're working with 20 minutes of show time. I will say that Seinfeld is very successful in making stuff that is annoying to most posters even more annoying by having people develop neurosese around them. Seinfeld has some funny moments but I found it almost maddeningly predictable. Family Guy though has stuff coming out of nowhere so while its plots are terrible or nonexistant its the wierd non-sequitors that make it hilarious. If you like Family Guy you get laid more.
Problem I have with Family Guy is that they stretch it out too far. A funny bit is funny, but like SNL, they aren't good at ending the segment before it just becomes dull. Like all the dances and stuff they do.
Seinfeld is just not funny. I've watched that show numerous times and haven't laughed once. Family Guy is slapstick type comedy so it's not high intellect but at least it makes me laugh. Neither one can touch South Park though in terms of comedy.
I like Family Guy, but I really agree with you here. This season this has been really annoying. Like on Sunday's episode when they had that TV theme show that just went on for like 90 seconds or the episode earlier this season with the random radio sounds. It's like they put together a good episode and then realized that it was only 20 minutes so they put in just one bit to fill the remaining two-three minutes.
