Agreed. I consider Stro a net negative, and assuming we could trade him for an asset is wrong. Another key reason I agree is Battier is locked up for several more years at a reasonable contract. Exchanging him for Stro has had a huge positive impact on our team. That trade is one the overrated St. Logo really got taken on. It's surprising since he already knew what Stro was all about.
i liked roy a lot and him on the rockets would be a good fit. THe guy is going to have a long and very good career. its a tough call. but not having luther on the bench would be a big problem for the rockets
Roy would be a great fit on the Rockets as well as a great individual talent. However, no Roy means no Battier and that would mean our frontcourt would get weaker. IMO it would be a tough decision but I would go for Roy and look to add size to our frontcourt in the offseason
are we still playing the what if game around here? you know, things that happened in the past and we can NEVER change cause we cant go back in time. Are we in the texans forums? Where am i?
I don't think you understand Roy's game. He is an unselfish team oriented player (in addition to being his team's #2 scorer he is #2 in assists, #4 in rebounds, #1 in steals) who is a good scorer on top. I watched him a lot in college and honestly I am suprised a little he is scoring this much. I am not at all suprised about his all around game and positive leadership is already showing. Roy is a lot like Battier with more scoring punch and a playmaking ability. You can be a good role player with a scoring punch at the same time. We wouldn't pass on Josh Howard, Tay Prince or Manu (probably the best comparison) just because we had Shane Battier, nor would we pass on Brandon Roy. To think so is borderline lunacy.
don't really like this what if game because i would choose roy every time and we can't do anything about it now.
Give up Luther AND Shane? Heck no! Would Brandon Roy score that much if he came off the bench? Heck no! Would JVG actually give up Shane? Heck no! He's in love with the guy, and he's also got a thing for Luther. Final answer: NO.
He gave up 3 picks to move up to get Griffin. All we have are role players along with a low 1st round pick. That can't help us to move up dramatically in the upcoming draft.
It was stupid JVG's faults. He asked Yao still play when we lost playoff spot last season, and that not only lead yao's toe surgery but also have us miss draft Randy Roy who can replace the cancer of our pg position. Fire Jvg. Give Van Span and Novak some playtime.
Yeah. Once the Rockets began to be out of the playoff picture, Yao should have been glued to the bench. And then the franchise could reap the benefits of no one ever buying another ticket.
Roy would be nice on the rockets, no doubt. But Roy INSTEAD of Battier is utterly ridiculous. Battier is an incredible incredible player, Roy is not even close.
There are a lot of people who would post this exactly. Except, it would be a parody. FWIW, as much as I like Battier, I would've taken Roy then, and reluctantly would do so now. He's already really good, and will continue to get better. As another aside, in addition to the scenarios others have mentioned, if Boston doesn't completely lose its marbles and trade the #7 for freaking Sebastian Telfair, Roy would be a Rocket.
