Hmmm... Not to be offensive, but I think you are taking things WAY out of context. Where did I write that Luther was a great or even decent point guard? My point was he was a decent distributor in college, but that didnt translate too well in the NBA.

Maybe we have different views of a traditional point guard. But I dont see Law looking/distributing the way Nash or Kidd does. Those two are the standard by which I measure points guards by.

Measuring Acie Law or any other PG in college ball right now against Nash and Kidd is setting a very high bar. Look, most people would agree Acie isn't a Nash/Kidd like PG, but averaging over 5 assists a game in college is pretty damn good (and consider the length of an NCAA game is 8 minutes shorter and Texas A&M doesn't really have dominant scoring big men on the team). I will go out on a limb here and say that Acie would be a better distributing PG than Luther, JL3, and VSpan.

That's like saying i don't know if Oden will end up like Bill Russell. You're using one of the best pgs ever and the best pg in the NBA now. That's a tough measuring stick.

I was just making points on the comparison.

Luther averaged 3.8 assists per game his senior year, Acie is currently averaging 5.1. Check your facts

Not to knock Law - he's a great player - but take that assist number with a grain of salt. The A&M scorekeeper apparently doesn't know what an assist is and has been inflating assists all season long. A&M averages more than double the assists at home as on the road, and there are a lot of other quirks in the way that guy awards assists that make no sense. In the UT game, UT actually asked the Big 12 to subtract nearly half our assists because they weren't real.

I'd be curious to see Law's road average for assists - I think it's probably a better measure of where he really is in comparison to other college players.

This is the worst example of a longhorn trying to put down Law. Law originally was reported as having 17 in that game, but the stat sheet read 15. If you watch that game Acie got Jones involved early and Carter on the wing. We scored 100 points and he played the entire game so it doesn't seem so far fetched.

Except the problem has nothing to do with the UT-A&M game. Here are some statistics:

In that game, A&M was credited with 29 assists on 33 baskets. Many were on baskets that should have been credited with no assist whatsoever. I have no idea how many of these relate to Law, though.

A&M was 4th in the nation in assists; 43rd in scoring.

A&M averaged 23 assists a game at home, 11 on the road.

A&M never had less than 16 assists in a home game. They never had more than 16 assists in a road game.

(All those stats are through the UT-A&M game - not sure how that may have changed since). Sorry, but this is all the sign of a defective scorekeeper (opponents - UT for example - also have their numbers inflated when playing at A&M, so it's not homerism or anything like that). It has nothing to do with Law as a player. He still is who he is. But you can't compare his assists with Luther Head or anyone else, because his assists are not being measured properly.

Sounds more like ignorance by people who can't accept the truth, especially given that I first posted about this over a month ago. But hey, whatever makes you feel better. If you need fake assists to convince people that Law is a good player, fine by me. I think he's damn good without them.

I think Law averages about 3.7-3.9 apg on the road. He had 5 against Texas at Texas and 7 at Kansas. Big games. Big balls.

This is one of the biggest problems on this board in a nutshell. Major acknoledged he thinks "Law is a damn good player" so what's the problem. He diasagress about the siists totals. Who cares, it's his opinion. It doesn't make him an A@M hater.

This crap pisses me off b/c I get accused of being a UT hater b/c I don't think DJ Augustin can ever be player of the year, I didn't think Young would be this great (I had a lot of questions about him), and I thought USC would beat UT. However, Kevin Durant is one of my favorite players (including NBA guys). Yet, if I disagree on a UT player, I'm just a UT hater. it's so stupid

So you're frustrated because your valid criticism is ignored and you're simply labeled a "hater"?

    Now that's funny.

    LOL!

Total ownage there, Clutch. That was a low-blow...and I love it! :D

Seriously though, enough of this Aggie/Longhorn lovefest, what are the odds of Law IV slipping to the mid/late 20s in the first round of this upcoming NBA draft like Marcus Williams did for the Nets?

With this draft being so deep...is there a chance he could slip to us?

God I wish the Rockets could get him. I know it's a pipe dream though. He'll be gone. :(
