oh please, let's not be a homie... let's everything else set aside, Tmac anit even close compare to Kobe, well, so is anyone else.
Killer Instinct = getting out of the first round guess Kobe and Tim Duncan pass the mustard ...just kidding
I'm not sure that Tmac doesn't have that "Killer Instinct" that Kobe has. It's just that it materialises itself in different ways. For Tmac, that "Killer Instinct" comes from trying to win games, whatever it takes. If it means hitting a dagger jumpshot at the end of a close game, or driving and creating an easy shot for an open teammate, he'll do it. Kobe, on the other hand, will take things squarely in his own hands. If he wants to win badly, he'll take you all the way to the bank himself, just because he knows he can, and he knows he's the best damn offensive player in the league, and you can't stop him no matter how many guys you throw at him. This argument might have been, and it WAS, a lot more interesting a few years back, when both guys were just tapping into their potential, and did not have as much mileage on their young legs. No, it's no contest, Kobe is the best scorer in the league by far. Nobody even comes close. McGrady is just about a more, if not THE MOST, complete player. Now, if we're talking Orlando Tmac, can he put up 50+ in 4 straight and counting like Kobe did? I don't know, but I have my doubts. Many people point to his 62-point game as reference for his scoring prowess, but many also fail to realise that he was absolutely DRAINED at the end of that game. And mentally, he let the fans' and his teammates' desire to watch him go for 70 get in the way of his shots near the end. Still, he did have a stretch of I think 20+ games where he averaged about 35ppg one year. On the other hand, Kobe scored 62 in 3 quarters, scored 65 against Portland, 81 against the Raptors, and he didn't even look anywhere as tired. This guy's just a scoring machine, period.
Don't have to, because the whole world knows that Kobe is the best player in the world, like him or not.
Just to point out one more things, Cobe has broke many many records in the NBA, and on the top 3-5 in many other categories. Let it be 9 straight 40+ games with the the court case bothering him... Let it be the 9 straight 3 pointers Let it be the 30+ pts in a quarter Let it be the total points Let it be the countless amazing seems impossible clutch shots... Let it be others...
T-Mac is less selfish than Kobe, better teammate, but... Kobe averages 5.5 APG compared to McGrady 6.3. Kobe is also getting more rebounds and steals so IDK about t-mac being better than kobe
Tracy's greatness is not narrowed to scoring..did you guys forget MJ just proclaimed he believes Tracy is one of the two most versatile current players? btw, unlike Pele, MJ remembers what he used to say.
Exactly. Kobe is averaging 30 points this year but he will be done after the first round. That's the situation TMac used to be in, when he averaged 32 ppg for Orlando and 30+ ppg every year in the playoffs. I remember people saying he was better than Kobe just because he had a higher scoring average back then. TMac could probably still average 30 points (as he showed while Yao was gone) but he wants to get past the 1st round, and that means defering more to Yao and becoming a more complete player. It means being a playmaker, more of a Steve Nash than a Kobe. (Who won the last 2 mvps by the way?)
tmac plays 35 mins. kobe plays 40. 5 mins is a huge difference. and plus, tmac rarely plays the 2nd quarter anymore.
he's the best OFFENSIVE player in the world. everyone knows that. the reason they say he's the "best" sometimes is b/c of his 3 rings. that's why wade has that distinction b/c he won a ring. no one is on the level of kobe offensively the past 2 yrs. no one. but there's a reason odom has regressed from his heat days. odom doesn't make his guys better.
I think kobe is more of a hard working genius, while tracy is more of a talented genius...T-mac, if he had the will and determination of kobe, would probably be way better than kobe.
What do you think Shaq + T-Mac of Orlando would have led to? Shaq + AI? Shaq in his prime + Wade now? When Kobe leads his team past the first round without Shaq Daddy let's talk...
How define the term better player?. the better player is or must be defined as the player has more infulence over how well his or her teammates perform. tracy clearly makes he's teammates better. Scoring Kobe> Shooting Kobe Passing tracy>kobe Playmaking Tracy>kobe Leadership Tracy>kobe Making others better Tracy>kobe Rebounding tracy>kobe Better teammate Tracy>kOBE
exactly. i mean hayes is arguably one oft he most HORRIBLE offensive playeres in the L and he's getting 2-3 layups a night from tracy, directly from tracy. i don't see bynum getting those easy baskets. i don't see brown getting it despite the attention kobe gets. i don't see a shooter like vujavic doing well. kobe is the best scorer in the L. that is not even up for debate. he's like 2-3 levels ahead of every other scorer right now. he's that damn good. but there's a REASON the lakers are squeaking by v. BAD TEAMS despite him putting up 50+. isn't it a coincidence odom has shot 60% the last 3-4 games and only averages 11 shots? imagine if tmac ignores yao like that? tmac could get his 30-40, but will we win? no.
but u can also say if kobe had the vision and unselfishness of tracy, kobe + shaq would still dominate and kobe would have had 5-6 rings by now? wouldn't u say? only MJ is that perfect.
i don't want to stop defending tracy, but some people on here only look at points scored to define tracy. didn't he prove u guys wrong when yao was out? he can score IF HE HAS TO. right now he doesn't. yao is dominant, playing at a beastly level. tmac will pick it up when he has to. but right now yao gives us a good edge v. most teams. as a result, tmac's assists have been 8.5 apg the last 5 games. and tracy's getting 6.3 apg in 35 mins. imagine if he played 40-41 => 7.5 apg easy.
