All I can say is, fire Van Gundy if we don't make it past the 1st round in the playoffs. I don't care what he says to the press of in private to his players. If we don't get results, his head should be on the platter.
The truth is This team wins more games with Tmac playing more than it does with just Yao playing without him. You have an agenda and all of the bbs can see it. Smashing on Tracy, even after a win is funny because JVG said something about your precious Yao. The truth of the matter is, JVG knows Tmac has saved his job the past year because they couldn't win without him. It's the main reason he doesn't have much to say, because when he needed it most, Tmac came through for him.
I agree with you, but only to a point. It remains to be seen if Van Gundy's job is really as safe as some believe. As of now, he has no contract extension, and likely won't get one unless the Rockets perform well in the playoffs. If they lose in the first round again, I'm not sure if JVG returns next season. As far as pryuen is concerned, I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about him, or the rest of the YOF. At every message board I have ever posted at, there has always been a group of people who insisted on somehow being different from the majority of the posting population, and on this board, the YOFs are the group in question. The YOFs want this board to be their place. What they don't realize is that this is a Houston Rockets site, and that they have to share with the rest of us.
That's what happens when a group of twelve-year-olds gain access to the internet. They use message boards such as this as a platform for endless whining about complaining about anyone and anything they don't like. The TOFs and YOFs are intent on trashing the opposing side, regardless of how it looks to rest of us. The Rockets are blessed to have two players as gifted as McGrady and Yao. Why that isn't enough for some people is beyond me, but as I alluded to moments ago, a lack of maturity is often the root of any number of problems, especially in a public forum like this.
The Tracy-only fans also want this board to be their place. The only difference is that for a year (2004-2005) it WAS their place, so they don't complain as loudly. But now that Yao has improved and McGrady has run into back problems it is no longer their place, and they're not happy about it. You guys act like TOF's don't exist. They definitely do, just look at this thread. It's just that until now they haven't had to manifest themselves because it WAS McGrady's team, key word WAS.
Let us be careful not to generalize about this topic. As I was the first to be called incorrectly a Yao only Fan I feel I should be the one to draw some lines : a] There are long time sincere Rockets Fans like myself who like the game with a dominant big man. The type of game that the Rockets have played over the years. We favor the big men and they become our favorite players, at present it is YAO MING. Nothing wrong with that, many fans have favorite players. I always have! b] US Chinese and Asians [ Orientals for the Europeans among us] some who supported basketball in China and were possibly following Yao Ming's career became YOF fans for the sake of keeping up or developing their interest in Yao Ming. Or just because Yao was chinese. For most, the Rockets are secondary but some have become ardent fans of our team. Nothing wrong with that! All the more the better, it takes all types !! c] Some [few] just fell in love with Yao Ming, most can't explain it and would refute anyone who crosses their path as they blindly hold Yoa as Sacred. We all know who these are and they even have a part to play in the life of us Rocket Fans. IMHO it is the right of all Clutch BBS Forum to express opinions about players, yet it is fround upon by most when criticism is made without foundation. It is also the right of all Fans to have one or many favorite players. I consider it quite unjust to label any supporter of this great Forum just because they have a strong interest in their favorite player or players, after all most of us just want our team THE ROCKETS to do well!!
I agree that they exist, and they are just as irritating, if not moreso. However, it's important to bear in mind that the YOFs have been running rampant on this board for years, and aren't likely to stop anytime soon, and the rest of us are sick and tired of it. There is nothing wrong with liking individual players, but the success of one player should always remain secondary to the success of the team. Most of us understand this, and are more than fed up with those who can't/won't.
This is not about YOFs .....it is about JVG called out Yao personally and never does the same thing to Tmac. The one thing everyone SHOULD be talking about is that JVG is 100% right. Love the Rockets, Love the YOFs, Love the TOFs......tolerate the ROFs. DD
What in God's creation is wrong with all of you?!? There are no Yao are Tmac partisans and you children going ateach other's throats are ridiculous. There are only Rocket partisans, if you will. Grow up.
Stop argue, both your TOFs and YOFs are not very good on this board. Everyone knows whos are the TOFs, and YOFs, even although you are saying you are the only Rockets fans. The sad part is that the Buddy list is not working. I have added a few those fans into it, but I still can see the posts.
TOF's and YOF's are like genes. One must be the dominant gene and the other must be recessive. Problem is sometimes the other won't accept the other being better or sometimes the other wants to be too dominant, therefore, may appear to be a very arrogant gene. Make any sense?
It doesn't have to be that way, though. There is a phenomenon known as co-dominance, in which both alleles of a particular trait are equally expressed. The most commonly cited example is flower pedal color. I won't bore the rest of you with the details, but suffice it to say that the take-home message is that there is no reason to argue over whether Yao or McGrady is the Rockets best player. Both are necessary if the Rockets are to accomplish anything, but it this season or in the future. It's unfortunate that there are people who still haven't realized this.
