Guys, we beat Detroit tonight. For 3 quarters, we smoked them, and although it got a bit bad there towards the end, we made plays when we needed to against a great team. This wasn't like blowing a big lead to the Hawks or anything.

I agree we need to develop a killer instinct, but lets enjoy a quality win

A lot of people complain about JVG's negativity, but it's no better here :p

Complete BS. We controlled this game beginning to end, and the Pistons NEVER had a chance to win the game, even when they got close.

Don't let the "playing not to lose" mindset the Rockets had late in the game tonight fool you. We destroyed the Pistons and everyone who watched the game knows it. We did it primarily with defense, but also with Yao's dominance of the interior.

There was never an ounce of doubt in my mind that we had this game won midway through the third.

I agree with JVG about the "finishing mentality." This team needs to put teams away when they get them down. We probably need to add one or two "intense" type players that can rally the troops in the clutch. We are a talented "nice guy" team. Nevertheless, great win. An important win. Let's get the homecourt.

    look at this photo
the Piston 34 is just like dancing or posting a gesture without any meaning...
the piston coach told him to learn from Yao, even u cannot get the reb, u also need to learn from his gesture :D

JVG said we stumbled at the finish line, fell on our face, and won the game.

Reality is that the Piston missed some shots at the end or this game would have been real interesting. Blowing a 20 point lead is not something to be proud of, win or no win.

You should listen to JVGs interview. He was pissed, chiding his team for the lack of a killer instinct, bringing up game 3 and 4 against Dallas. Barely winning isn't going to satisfy JVG from here on out, he wants to put the beat down on every team especially in the 4th quarter.

Can't agree more. Especially the part on Yao's mentality. That's what Yao lacks to become top 5 in NBA.

JVG is completely correct. It's time to blowout everyone in the fourth.

    JVG > Piston Coach
    Yao > Piston 34

Another reality is the Pistons didn't play tough defense or smart basketball until near the end. This was not a typical Pistons game at all. It's great we won but it isn't something to be really excited about because the level of basketball wasn't that great. I felt the same way about the Sixers blowout. Wins are wins, but the last few games aren't anything to brag about.

I also think part of it may be the Pistons looking forward to a much more important game (to them) tomorrow against the Spurs. For most of the game they seemed to be going through the motions.

JVG's comments about lack of a killer instinct were right on the money. If you don't learn from history you are doomed to repeat it, hence the comments about games 3 & 4 in 2005.

80% coaches will choose dirk over yao. 100% of owners will choose yao.

But I do feel yao's D >>dirk, O <= dirk. So yao get number 1 is ok for me.
