Not as many iso plays for Mobley. When we did give Mobes the ball, he drove, but the main difference was that this time, we had people cutting to the basket. Mobes could just pass it off to a cutter. He had like 10 assists today. Even though it was only the Clippers, I think we're making more progress.

That is what Cuttino needs to do , not just take it all on his shoulders , there are other ways of being the "hero" , don't necessarily have to take the last shot , just make a good play that leads to a score.
Basically , we were not selfish and that is what is gonna take for this team to win and win convincibly. Also, think about this, the Clips and the Rox are both young teams , I saw a statistic stating how there were 16 players out there between the 2 teams w/less then 3 yrs of NBA experience... that is alot!
and that goes to show how young we are but yet we can beat the clips even on their best days ... so what is the difference ? think about it !!!

Well, the clippers were missing Derek Anderson and Brian Skinner. But even with them playing, we still woulda beat them. hehe.

Good observation alaskansnowman!!! I noticed the same thing when I got to see the game(I had to run to the liquor store once).

From what I saw and heard, Mobes was cutting to the basket, passing alot(especially to Kato), and shooting from about 10-15 feet........like I suggested he do in previous topics. Maybe Rudy and Mobes himself noticed the same thing. I know that Calvin mentioned something about it in the last broadcast...about him getting closer to the basket and taking shots closer to the basket.

Cuttino is and will be the go to man on this team. Yea, Francis has more over-all talent, but unless Stevie is going to be the main man we go to every time, Cuttino is going to be taking 15-25 shots a night for the next 5-7 years unless he is traded...you can mark my words.

You can quote me....if Cuttino takes more shots from 10-15 feet, the Rockets will start winning more games....especially when Hakeem comes back to rebound and puts the missed shots back in the basket. DAMN, don't you just love those alley-oops from Cuttino to Cato!!!!!!

    DAMN that sounds great!!

Cuttino to Cato for the JAM!!!!

Oh, alaskansnowman...I didn't want to forget....yea they were missing. Hence they lack of defense by the Rockets.

I don't agree with them giving up 100 points and still winning....that just shows they did not play that great of defense. They just played enough defense to win.

I don't mean to take away from their win, because a win is a win. The Rockets had a great offensive night which helped them win the game. That's great, but if the didn't have that good an offensive night, it would have been a tight game, just like we are all used to them having this year.

The point is that their defense is still lacking. Yea, if they can play this way offensively every night, then we would have won about 75% of our games, but defense wins Championships and the Rockets don't have it.....yet. They will learn...hopefully soon.

Anderson and Skinner? Are they as good as Hakeem and Barkley?

The Rockets I agree do need to work on their defence. i think now with the combo of anderson cat and france starting i think that the rockets will get way better.. the three will learn how to play together and get defensively stronger as a team....good luck rox...

Yeah we didn't play very good defense, but we really didn't have to. I don't think the Rockets really tried that much once they got a 15 point lead going. And plus Mo Taylor was completely unstoppable! There was no way of guarding him aside from a double team every time. So, I think that's part of the reason that we gave up so many points to the Clips.

If we keep cutting to the basket and moving without the ball, we will play very well on offense.

from the 5th row...(many no shows...woohoo), I counted the Mobley ISO at 10-12 success rate. Clearly our best play for yet another game.

I had a nephew there, so I missed about 4 minutes of total playing time at the food court, but that 10-12 is accurate for what I saw. as alaska said, most of the success was from assists.

You know though, that Clippers defense is pretty stagnant. They let cutters go through the middle with little harassment. I really didn't even see us run our repertoire of picking plays. Our first option always seemed to be available. I'm not sure how much we can take away from this game...the Clipper defense was not moving.

    Fun game to watch though.

One joy was seeing Cato get subsituted for and finally, for once, coming off the floor and talking to Rudy. We've been joking in the stands about how Cato never looks at Rudy when he leaves the floor. Tonight, they were buds. Those are the meaningless intangibles that speak volumes to me. But then again, I like to invent subplots on the court...often the quotes the next day follow. Anyone else follow subplots?
