In the 80s and 90s, Hong Kong made the best martial art Kung Fu movies, not only that, they also made many classic movies outside of the martial art category, such as gangster movies, crime, gambling, comedy, and so on.... Now Hong Kong makes stupid movies except a couple good one.
in order of favorites: #1 the last samurai (which just so happens to be my favorite movie all time) #2 kung fu hustle (one of the most complete movies ever in my opinion) #3 the last dragon (sho nuff!) I will say this though, tony jaa is the muthaf*ckin man!
nope, I'm dead serious. I really liked that movie, not the greatest action, but it's sweet. and to elaborate I didn't mean kung fu hustle was like OH MY GOD the greatest plot ever! I meant that it had something of everything...laughs...action...romance...even a little bit of a "scare" when he's in psych ward. I loved the special effects I might add, as well as the choreography. last samurai speaks for itself, I study aikido, it's my favorite martial art.
An old but interesting article from Newsweek about the death of old-school kung fu stars. Check it out. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11179138/site/newsweek/
One of my favorite movies is Jet Li's remake of the Bruce Lee classic Chinese Connection. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hW34yJXbcf4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hW34yJXbcf4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Thanks for posting that article. I knew about Jet Li saying Fearless would be his last kung fu movie but didn't know that he had become a monk and how the tsunami affected him.
