my bad, it's been "edited". logged on to the stream to hear a bit about this schaub deal, and was pleasantly surprised to hear some rocket talk.
Has he said anything worthwhile today? The few times I've listened it's a waste of time. A lot of it is just reminiscing about the old days. Mario is cautious about making pointed comments on current NBA stuff because he wants to become a head coach and apparently doesn't want to offend anyone. It's isn't the old Mario who used to be a great interview.
Mario is awful on the radio and appears to be a talking corpse on TV. Great as a player, great as a person, but awful as a member of the media. Great athlete does not imply great on television (see: C. Cooper, C. Drexler et al.)! When will they learn?
My thoughts exactly. Please leave broadcasting to the professionals who does it for a living. Watching Cooper, Drexler, and Elie really takes the life out of the game. Having a good commentator adds to the excitement of the game, such as Marv Abert and Kevin Harlan. But these three, argh!
I didn't cap the interview, and, honestly, If I'd known he was gonna be on, I probably still wouldn't have capped it. He talks on every game day anyway, and doesn't have much inside info to speak of.
Mario used to be great with the media when he was a player. He was fairly articulate, would discuss inside info and was very informative. He's too cautious now to be worth listening to.
Well, at least he had a nice little story about Dream's leadership and his poise when the team was down 3-2 in the playoffs.
This Rocket hour is a waste of time. Why doesn't 610 get Jonathan Feigen (Rockets beat writer for the Chronicle) instead? The big problem is Mark and Rich aren't informed enough about the team to ask interesting questions. What a shame.
exactly. it's nice to see the effort to push rockets talk but i never listen to it over charlie. i'd like to see calvin murphy in there if he still keeps up with the game.
I would think having Gina Gaston as a wife would help you in this area. However, Mario is a monotone bore on TV. Those 3 or 4 kids have taken the life out of him and looks like he's on AARP.
Nah... I never like to see media people interview other media people. I'm interested in info from within the Rockets organization.
