Actually, I would have taken Durant over Tyler in a second. I don't even think he's that great. I definitely don't think he'll be a good pro. Most people who follow basketball closely would have taken Durant as well. If there's no age limit he's a top 5 pick coming out of high school, Tyler wasn't even after a great Freshman season. Let me tell you something, I will bet you anything you want (we bet a tip jar donation or we can bet straight up with all these people as our witnesses and then show the Paypal invoice as proof) that OJ Mayo, Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon and Michael Beasley (who isn't a pg but a sf) will be better then DJ both in college and the pros (and get drafted higher) If you eliminated the age rule next year's draft would look like: 1.Oden/Durant 3.Mayo 4.Rose 5.Beasley
I'll take your word for it. DJ is a very good freshman pg, but I don't know he's that type of player. I'm sure there's gonna be alot of players better than DJ over time.
The truth is exacly what you just said and exactly the case. DJ's a first round pick (that's why I didn't understand the post) but the pg postion is just going to be so strong over the next couple years. If not for off the court incidents, Mayo would be a contender with Oden or Durant for #1 pick. Think D Wade and Raye Allen (yes, tha good). Rose is actuallyrated as a top 2 pick. Iagine a prime Gary Payon / Baron Davis. Gordan is more of a scorer and Fisher could be a little Deron Williams. Colllison, Lawson and DJ will all have the tourney to prove themselves.
That is true... but not many players that we have access to in the draft if we keep playing the way we do. DJ might slip through to the lower picks if he decides to participate in this years draft. So I think picking him up or Acie Law (if we are lucky), would be huge for us.
Augustin sucked hard in his last three games. He needs to rebound next year. If he went to the draft this year, he would be a fringe 2nd rounder.
