Since last season, a team is allowed to carry a 13-man playoff rosters.

    Here is the link.

I believe we all have accepted the fact that Sura is not likely to play for us for the rest of his contract, so ONE out of the existing 14 players is not going to make our playoff roster. Provided that you are our beloved Coach, who would you NOT carry to the playoff? And Why?

note: Unfortunately I can only have at most 10 options in my poll so I left out our current starters except Rafer.

[Edit:] I made this a public poll hence your vote will be known, guess you guys won't mind. And the official close date for playoff rosters is April 19, 2007, 3pm ET.

I think Novak will be odd man out, but my choice is LUCAS III <-- i think this guy serves 0 purpose for us at this point, with Tmac playing pt. forward.

I agree. I would hope that Novak plays more before the playoffs start and hope his defense improves.

Although I voted Novak by default since he's already the odd man out of the rotation, I have to disagree with you here. Lucas despite his deficiencies is still more useful to us in the playoffs than Spanoulis. He can at least run the offense, take care of the ball, and get dribble penetration/finish around the basket, even if his outside shooting is poorer than expected. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose Lucas easily.

There is no way you need both lucas and vspan.

And I would rather take the t-mac of greece than the guy who thinks he is better than t-mac and NEVER passes.

    My vote goes to Lucas.

3 candidates in my list: VSpan, Novak and Lucas.

Given our winning formula, we need consistent perimeter shooters. Earlier a thread with JVG interview on radio mentioned that our Coach would like Lucas to improve his perimeter shooting. Apparently, from our Coach point of view, our guards' abilities to drive to the lane < their perimeter shooting percentage. As long as Yao plays on the court, our players would have tons of opportunities to be left open and shoot their 3s. In such case, Novak is a keeper to me.

VSpan or Lucas is really a tough call. Lucas seems to know's our Coach's system better but I still have faith in VSpan's defence and I believe he would play with disciplines on the court.

    I choose Lucas.

So I take it the trend that JVG has been putting JLIII before VSpan in games has not really weighed into the thought process for those picking JLIII to be left out.

Obviously. Didn't you realize this was another "Free V-Span" thread in disguise?

Novak belongs in there more than Vspan, we might need him for a clutch 3, Span will be useless in the playoffs. There will be no garbage minutes to give him.

Only in your malicious mind. :)

Seriously, everyone entitle to express their opinions here. But I wish we would better focus on our thought of the best playoff rosters out of our existing players in this thread instead of lobbying playtime for your favourite player.

JL III is useful against small quick guys (eg. Nash, Barbosa, Parker). So I've to to choose between VSpan and Novak. I voted for Steve for personal reasons. ;)

damn voted Vassillis Spanoulis but forgot about Lucas.

    I can't stand Luke's shot selection.

Man I love that series. Though I think Sakuragi Hanamichi (sp?) should be Chuck Hayes (similar skill set of can't shoot, rebounds well, and the little dog in the fight, etc.) instead of Juwan, T-Mac and Battier should fits as well. Since Kaede Rukawa was the best player on the team and his role on the team is similar to that of T-Mac. Mean while Battier was the college player of the year while Hisashi Mitsui was the junior high MVP. Yao is good as Takenori Akagi (dominant center whose success was held back by lack of talent till he finally got a good team around him) and Rafer fits Ryota Miyagi to a tee (good handles and passing, horrible shooter .... ).

Damn, the more I think about it, the more I realized how similar the current starting 5 is to the Shohoku team. Let's just hope that doesn't mean we will beat the Mavs but be ridden with injury and lose to some other team in the playoffs....

Of those players, I'd leave out Spanoulis. I don't forsee any sort of meaningful role for him this season. Though, it could very well be Bonzi if JVG commits to keeping him out of the rotation.
