Translation from Capcom's Japanese site: http://www.excite.co.jp/world/engli....jp/news/html/070320.html&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2 edit: English version (no "Debilmacrai" sadly) http://ir.capcom.co.jp/english/news/html/e070320.html
It was originally announced for the PS3. This announcement states that it will be coming to the 360 and PC as well. So PS3, 360, and PC (although I think the PC version will come after the PS3/360 version). I think we get new media for the game soon. Either in the next few days, or next week.
Don't feel like making another thread for this since it doesn't seem 100% official, but it seems like Ace Combat 6 will be coming to the 360 as well (no mention of PS3 version as well apparently). FWIW, I'm not getting this from the retailer pics that had AC6 in the system (although that certainly supports this too). I remember talk about 3rd party exclusives being dead this generation, but I didn't think it would be quite like this. A lot of pressure on the first parties at Microsoft and Sony.
Sony loses man. I'm getting a 360...the Devil May Cry series is one of my favorites, ever. I enjoy those games more than God of War even. Resident Evil 5 is going to 360 too, right? And GTAIV of course will be simultaneously released on both PS3 and 360. Those are the three main reasons I loved PS2. So I go where those franchises go. XBOX - DMC series, Resident Evil series (?), GTA series...and Halo 3. Sony - uh...Heavenly Sword? Nothing else excites me. Oh yeah and I remember reading Final Fantasy is going to 360 too. RC Cola, correct me if I'm wrong about Resident Evil and Final Fantasy going to MS. Sony takes an L this gen.
Resident Evil was confirmed already, I think. It's still expected that FFXIII will at least be PS3 exclusive, but who knows.
No, Final Fantasy (both XIII and VS...think even KH3, but not sure) is still PS3-exclusive...at this moment. So is MGS4 and Tekken 6, but who knows what will happen. Those games might be more difficult to port than some of these others, but I don't think that would really hold them back if those companies really wanted to make them multiplatform. RE5 will be released for both platforms. I think most/all Capcom releases will be 360/PS3 (and this will probably include Lost Planet and Dead Rising going to the PS3). As I said, it will basically be 1st party vs 1st party. Sony better hope that some of those 150 titles knock the ball out of the park. edit: And apparently this also includes Monster Hunter going to the 360 as well (Monster Hunter is HUGE in Japan). WTH is going on today?!
I think Sony needs some of that third party, though; as Nintendo found out, (and CriscoKidd and I were discussing this in another thread) it doesn't matter necessarily how good your first party is. At least if you want to be the 'market leader'. Not having the help from 3rd party exclusives only makes the battle tougher and highlights the challenges you already have (high price, lower userbase, etc.). It just seems as though all the indications are that Sony didn't push particularly hard to secure third party games and are only relying on first party. I'd consider that a mistake.
Sony needs something to compete with Halo. Resistance is mightily overrated. And why haven't we seen Killzone gameplay? I do love me some Tekken though.
I don't there's a series out there from Sony that is on par with Halo. I'm not acutally a fan of Halo (not really a FPS guy), but give credit where credit is due. Are there are any first party games from Sony that will conjure up alligience/fanboydom? I can't think of any either unfortunately.
Well, I think Ratchet and Clank is pretty awesome. If and when I get a PS3, that'll be one I pick up. I don't think it's as hardcore as you meant though. But yeah, only God of War is probably as well known...and I don't think it's numbers stack up to Halo.
I don't think there will be very many 3rd party exclusives for any system, so I don't know how important this will be. Sony's being hit the hardest since the had a ton of 3rd party of exclusives, but they're also gaining some support that they didn't have last time (Bethesda, Valve, iD, BioWare, Team Ninja, etc.). In Nintendo's case, it seemed like they couldn't get any 3rd party support, let alone 3rd party exclusives, so it is somewhat different here IMO (and even if it was the same, Sony probably has the ability to release titles more often than every 6 months or whatever). Now obviously this will change if the 360 starts getting a ton of exclusives, which could certainly happen if it starts to really distance itself from the PS3 in terms of sales. I don't think Sony's approach is to rely on just one amazing game, but to have one amazing library. Which is smart, assuming they can achieve that (easier said than done). And Killzone hasn't been shown because it isn't "ready" to be shown. It will be shown in July though, at E3. Sales-wise, Gran Turismo probably has twice the impact of Halo. Or it did. Here are some of their bigger franchises: MLB The Show Wipeout God of War Ratchet and Clank Jak and Daxter Sly Cooper Ico/SOTC Singstar (and maybe Buzz, or whatever it is called) Gran Turismo SOCOM Resistance (it has sold well enough to fit here) Killzone (1st game sucked, but it sold a ton of copies) Twisted Metal Hot Shots The Getaway (like KZ, the games sucked, but they sold well) Plus some interesting new IPs: Uncharted Warhawk (maybe not new, but whatever) Heavenly Sword Lair Afrika 8 Days Monster Kingdom White Knight Story (might be 3rd party, but I think SCEWWS is publishing this) LocoRoco (just listing this because I want to try it with the Sixaxis ) SCEWWS is bigger than Nintendo and Microsoft combined IIRC, so they have plenty of resources to create some interesting titles (a ton of which have yet to revealed I'm sure). Few (if any) of these are on the level of Halo (some may even struggle to sell 500K), but they do add to the library. That's not to say that Sony's offerings (that we know of) are way better than Microsoft's (Forza, Fable, Halo and the spinoffs, PGR, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Gears of War, Mass Effect, etc.), but they do have a ton of 1st party titles that could do very well (especially when you consider them all together).
I agree, but I meant more in terms of this specific point in time, with the PS3 coming into the market and struggling. Not trying to shore up some 3rd party help right at the beginning didn't make much sense. And yeah, if the sales continue the way they've been (which, even in spite of all this, I still have a hard time thinking they will) then it definitely will change. It will less profitable to even bother with the PS3 if the userbase isn't there. (in comparison to the 360).
I think Sony decided to pick up some developers to add to their 1st party studios rather than pay for 3rd party exclusives. In the last few years, they bought Naughty Dog, Zipper, Guerrilla Studios, and they've made publishing deals with Factor 5, Level 5, Ninja Theory, Media Molecule (or did they buy them?), and Evolution Studios (guess Insomniac too...but yeah). Had they not made those deals, they might have been able to keep some of these games exclusives (VF5, DMC4, RE5, and maybe UT3...not sure what else they would have bothered with...may have to wait until we get confirmation on Tekken, MGS, FF, etc.). I suppose in the end, Sony may aim to have just as many exclusive titles on the PS3 that the previous PS systems had...just this time around, the majority will be 1st party instead of 3rd party.
Here's confirmation of AC6 if anyone wants it: It is a 2007 title and has the following: - Large scale aerial battles - Xbox Live enabled: Battle Royale, Team Battle, Co-op, Leaderboards, tons of rule settings DMC4 was in the same magazine, but the 360 stuff wasn't mentioned (guess since Capcom announced this after the magazine was printed). Regarding DMC4: - Dante is playable - Realtime style changing - A new snow mountain area is shown and a new boss Also, Monster Kingdom: Unknown Realms has been retitled Folks Souls-Forgotten Legend...which I believe is now the 3rd name for the same game. Some info on that: - Coming out in June - Action Adventure title - Online features include uploading of user created dungeons and downloading of new quests All this via NeoGAF (which is probably via 2ch or something).
