My stepson really wants to sign up for this Gamefly service. From what I read on their website, it sounds pretty good. I did a search and found some old threads on them where people claimed that the time it takes to get games from them is really slow. Has this improved any? Their website claims 2-4 days. If so, that's cool.

Any impressions anyone has would be appreciated.

If you live in Houston it sucks, I had it for 2 months. It takes like 10 days to get a game. i had the 2 at a time. which is like 19.99 or something. Thats BS.. i can rent a game every few days at Blockbuster for less than that. the most games u will get in a month is MAYBE 3. It sucks, unless they opened a closer shipping center. The turnaround time is nothing like Netflix.

Thanks for posting that - I've been thinking about using them to try out games, now I know better.

    Appreciate it.

How long ago was it that you tried them?

Well...if your going to analyze in that context, then it sucks. But, if your a casual gamer that doesn't mind so much waiting for the games to arrive and prefers to hang onto games for a while to play them (while not getting a new game every few days), then it works perfectly fine and as intended. Their not on the scale of Netflix so to expect the same turnaround as Netflix is wishful thinking. It can be difficult to get new releases as well at times.

Yeah you are right, but think about it, lets say you keep 2 games, and you are casually playing it, you arent going to beat both games in a month. I guess it depends on the game, but you just spent about 24 bucks in one month on two games. When you can rent the same games at Blockbuster for half that. And you dont have to wait 2 weeks to get it. Gamefly sucks right now for our area, I'm sure it will get better as time goes by. The last time i was a member was January. I was only a member 2 months and rented 4 games. And this is considering I try to thoroughly enjoy the game and beat them at a steady pace. I dont rush. But at times I felt rushed. .. I dunno it just wasnt for me.

Well, one of my criteria I live life by nowadays is "I refuse to go into a Blockbuster again for any reason whatsoever." . I would rather die. That's what years of going to Blockbuster will do to a person.

They don't suck, the service is actually pretty good. They have this thing where when he post office scans the bar code on it it lets gamefly know and they mail you the next game.

Yeah, but it doesn't really help a whole lot.

I used it maybe about 6 months ago. It was bad....took over a week just to get a game. The game selection and price isnt bad at all, just the time it takes for you to actually recieve a game. If you end up signing up with them, at least get 2 games at a time.
