I am sure some people here are thinking that. But saying that he has the money to buy drug other people can't is "ripping" on him? So saying that rich people has the money to get better medical treatments than others is "ripping" on rich people? I don't get it. Can you point to post that says Magic being alive is a "BAD" thing?
Last I read, the virus is undetectable in Magic's body. I don't think he is considered cured but I guess he isn't really infected either.
Bingo. It's no one's fault that that they have money unless they robbed someone or illegally ended up with said money. The AIDS cocktail is a great thing and its great that we actually have a method of giving normalcy to the lives of those affected by a horrible thing like HIV. I have my own problems with drug companies and how they've handled the AIDS cocktail and questions regarding access and prices for it but that's not really important. Magic's alive because he has access to a phenomenal work of medicine. And most importantly, we should all be thankful that we don't have to go through something like that.
it means he has the virus which causes AIDS, but not necessarily has full blown AIDS what do you think being HIV positive means? that he has AIDS?
i take Yetti isn't a big fan of Ervin. HIV leads to AIDS. I think the AIDS doesn't kill you kill you. It's getting sick, and not having your immune system to fight it kills you. So if the Mensas on the board can further elaborate, feel free to do so.
The aids cocktail costs 10-20 grand a year. You don't really have to be an nba player to afford that, especially if your life depends on it.
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?sec=health&res=9F06E4D7133DF937A35756C0A9629C8B63 They have generic versions made in India that have 3 different medicines in one pill. In this 2004 article, It says that there are over 20 drugs that can be combined. I am sure it's at least 25 by now.
Well, to be fair, 10-20 grand a year is shaving it very thin off low-income families. 10-20 grand in Canada would probably be food+electricity+heating costs combined for your average family :/.
If like youluv said it costs 10-20 grand a year, it's not something very affordable to the poor. It is no secret that the rich do get better medical treatments. It's not the rich's fault. It's just reality. What I didn't get is Kelly jumped in and blasted the people who pointed this out.
the HIV is the virus and the AIDS is the desease, the virus hasnt developed in his body to turn it to AIDS, you can have HIV all your life, but never died of AIDS, I dont know but I think the medicines do that, its expensive to the very poor people, but I think is affordable to an average person.
