We need to stop being superstitious. The reality is that we will have homecourt if we play basketball that is 2.5 games better than Utah. What if we split the Utah series and have the same record as them? What decides home court? It sucks for us if it is conference or division record.
If that's the case, according to the tiebreaker rule, conference records decide the home court advantage -- because the two teams are not in the same division. As of now, the Rockets are 5.5 games behind the Jazz in conference matchups. So we better hope Houston win the regular season series 3-1.
And how does the whole division thing works are you guranteed at least one homecourt series or a playoff spot, like in the NFL.
Damn... So we either have to beat them twice or make up 3.5 games against them... I find the latter more likely.
we will have two times to face jazz, and we just behind them two and half games. it is really have hope to catch them.
We are only behind them by 2 games now. Jazz lost another game tonight against an Eastern conference team. The Jazz are on a 4 game losing streak. I predicted their fading away as we got close to the playoffs, but they are doing worse than even I imagined.
so when are we gonna change the name of this thread to "well guys, say good-bye to homecourt advantage." TOOOO "Well guys, say hello to homecourt advantage!" ????
Omg, today is playing out like how the NCAA tournament should've. Memphis beating Chicago? Boston beating San Antonio...in San Antonio? Denver whooping the Suns? ...And Cavs beating Utah, go homecourt go!
Exactly, March Madness has spread to the L. On another note, why was this thread even made? Haven't we learned our lessons about writting teams off in any sport? Jazz won't continue playing this bad, so I am glad that we are taking advantage of this slump that they are in. As someone else said, with us being what, 2 in the loss column behind them? We definately control our own destiny with 2 more head to head matchups. I believe we can pull it off. If not, its not the end of the world.
Serioulsy, what's the point of home court advantage when you can't even fill up the seats in the front road?
go back at look at the highlight clips from r2k from the dallas series two years ago the place was absolutely packed. i dont live in houston, but i think you can say that with most any city that if their team makes the playoffs that it will be packed (well every city except new jersey) i think the toyota center will be rockin come playoff time, the game against the clippers was a good atmosphere.
I love these threads, it's like every time one of these threads pop-up (and to be honest, I think we all have our doubts, it's just that our hope usually kills our reasoning) the Rox respond by doing the "impossible". Go Rockets, we will get home court and run through the West like we knew we could.
Yes! Btw, espn is already dismissing the Rockets: The Spurs and Suns are mighty, and just getting by the Jazz or Rockets will take a lot out of a team too. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime_maverickspistons
We are only two games back of the Jazz and only five games back of the Spurs. We have sixteen games left, including todays game against the Sixers. In theory we could catch the Spurs if things go our way but it will be tough. Catching the Jazz on the other hand looks pretty plausible, especially since we play them two more times before the regular season ends. GO ROCKETS! TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS!
Home court doesn't matter We still the rockets they still the Jazz we will kick the sh*t out of them. . . Rocket River
