    I use DVD shrink.

It's free. (although not available to download from sites because it's been ruled "illegal")

    http://hosted.filefront.com/Uprising3k

Get DVD shrink to rip. (as ISO file) and DVD dycrptor to burn the ISO file.

I would like a copy of my Talladega Nights on my hard drive at work.

Try ripit4me. I just ripped Casino Royale with it, and nothing else I have had succeeded on it. It's freeware, too, so ya got nothing to lose by trying it. :)

this is kind of off tangent, but still a pretty similar question...

anyone know how I could burn a movie that I have in mpeg-3 to a dvd that I can watch in my dvd player? what program can do that?

This probably won't help you, but I have a very easy solution.

I run s-video out from my laptop computer to s-video in on my set-top DVD recorder. In doing so, I can record directly to dvd anything that's on my laptop screen (even my windows desktop).

Use the latest AnyDVD with DVDShrink.

Also try DVDFab Decrypter or DVD Rebuilder. It worked for Ricky Bobby.
