As JVG says it's a players league. If they go all the way it would because of superstar performances from those two irrespective to JVG's influence.

Even if they do win it all, it's time for a change. Dynasties aren't made by sitting pretty.

Very different situations. We may as well just keep JVG before promoting Tom. The Bulls players had stopped listening to Doug Collins and he had to go. Last I checked, JVG still had everyone's full attention.

Exactly. Our team as a whole is better than the Shaq-Kobe lakers , but the superstars .....(well for the most part Yao) arent as good.

I should have said if JVG doesn't return at all, whether his choice or the team's...cause he could just walk away just like he did the Knicks...I'm not questioning about the players listening to him or not...I'm saying if he doesn't return then Tom should be elevated for continuity...

oh, now I know what you were mistaken on....I wasn't comparing the Phil/Doug situation literally, as in why Phil took over, just the fact the assistant took over and made it a smooth transition. Just like Rudy T taking over for Don Chaney.

If he doesn't get past the first round he needs to go ASAP.

If he gets past the first round but then gets steamrolled by one of the elite teams in the 2nd round, then I think he needs to go, but who knows what Alexander will do.

If he gets past the first round, and takes a team to 6 or 7 games in round 2, then I would say he deserves to have the option picked up for that last year.

BUT just for the next year, let's hold off on anything more than that.

If he wants to get anything more than that then I think we are talking more like going to 7 games in the WCF's.

I think he gets and extension no matter what. The public perception seems to be there is no one out there as good as or equal to him. He gets extended for at least 3 years.

The only way he leaves is on his own terms

He'll get an extension no matter what. How do you not bring him back after the job he's done this season?

If they don't get past Utah, he won't be back.

That should be more than obvious to every fan.

If they past Utah, it is very likely he will be back for that last option year, then it will go from there.

To argue with this scenarior just seems completely assinine.

I don't know...I think it should take 1st round pass but I have a feeling he will be back. How do you not bring a coach of the year candidate back?

We are 41-25 so he's doing a good job so it looks like he'll be coming back but I think it will take some post season success. The Kings fired Adelman because he never got them a ring but at least he got them to the playoffs 8 times AND with Musselman they aren't even in the playoffs now.

I see him coming back...who else could we get?

No doubt he is back. He gets full credit for how well the team played while Yao was out.

Popular perception is that there is no one out there better available.....

I would rather have Derek Fisher when he was young than Alston

JVG stays for 3 more years and GM and JVG makes this team even better much tougher over the summer and brings someone to ACTUALLY motivate our guys ESPECIALLY tmac night in night out!! since it seems to me tmac has been playing lazy since yaos return! regardless of his assists he needs to score in 30s if we want to go past 2 round and of course yao also but I think yao is more consistant once he is fully healthy!

He gets extended no matter what. It's pretty clear that he is one of the best coaches in the NBA. If you can't see it - I don't know what you've been watching.

The consideration here is if Van Gundy wants to return (maybe he is not comfortable with Morey, or his input on the roster?). It sure seems like the Rockets are happy with Van Gundy if Carrol Dawson's statements are to be believed. I don't see any viable candidates out there to coach the Rockets who are better at this point in their careers. If Van Gundy goes I would hope they turn to assistant coach Tom Thibodeau.

Playing in the first round against the Jazz produces something positive regardless of the result. If we win, we're in the second round, probably facing the Spurs. If we lose, we're rid of JVG. PTL.

    Thank you.
    • The Rockets organization has been very happy with JVG.
    • He's a strong contender for coach-of-the-year.
    • He's got us ranked 5th in the West, which is damn good.
    • He's overcome issues with major injuries to get us where we are.
    • He's overcome issues with knuckleheads to get us where we are.
    • We're a strong contender for the championship this season.
Jeff Van Gundy     isn't     going     anywhere.

And you shouldn't want him to.
