I know Sean Miller of Xavier didnt say anything, said it was irrelevant (oden intentional no call), but if i'm gary williams i'd criticize the officiating. Your seasons over just take the fine, its ridiculous.
The officiating overall in my opinion has been terrible. At times they calling every ticky tacky little thing, and then other times players get away with whatever they want.
Yes it has been terrible, but at least its been terrible both ways. The refs need to learn to let both teams play a little.
Agreed, or at least if you are going to call ticky tack fouls, stick with it. Set the tone early, but when you do ticky tack the 1st half, then 2nd half its no holds barred, you have problems.
What do you mean? The ridiculous amount of offensive fouls called, or the terrible officiating? To be honest, from the ACC/Big East games I caught on tv this year. I felt both those conferences officiating were pretty good this year.
Gary Williams is likely to make some snide comments about the charge call, but probably not say anything outright. He's got a rep for being a bit of a hothead, but he's certainly no Bobby Knight, or even Coach K/Jim Calhoun. Those guys would definitely say something, and it wouldn't be pretty. In 2004, when Emeka Okafor fouled all of Duke's big men out of the game, Coach K definitely had something to say afterward.
Now I'll be forced to endure cliched comments about Ohio State proving how "great teams find a way to win." The only good thing about them advancing is that it keeps alive the possibility that they meet Florida in the final. How suicidal would Buckeye nation be getting mugged twice in one year? Also, this play by play guy covering the A&M game is horribly biased. He's letting Louisville's home-court advantage find its way into his commentary. The decibel level of his voice multiplies by 10 everytime Louisville so much as releases a shot.
He's annoying, but I don't think he's biased. He gets excited about everything, no matter what team it is. He was like that during the OSU-Xavier game too. He's yelled his share about A&M this game.
There have been 42 fouls called this game!!!! That is ridiculous considering how this game has not been physical by any stretch of the imagination.
Down 6 in a road game at a very hostile arena is not an easy thing to come back from in the last 5 minutes. Time for Acie to take over if we are going to have any chance.
the offensive fouls have always been there. if a defender falls down, they call an offensive foul, flop or not, blocking foul or not. it just doesn't matter. and the more replays we get to see of stuff, the more terrible officiating appears, even though it's probably always sucked (which is the same for all sports as replay becomes more and more prevalent and we have 10 different angles of every call). and gus johnson make mike tirico seem like a calm and serene announcer. gus keeps it real with the excitement.
see, louisville has just gone completely stupid here. give up a 3. give up a putback. throw a pass away and when it almost miraculously turns into a layup, turn the layup down and throw a pass off the bottom of the backboard, and now foul law on a tough jumper to give up 2 free points. stupid stupid. and now a stupid pass for a breakaway. how did louisville ever get the lead?
i know i'm late to the party, but FUUU*UUUCK YOU Xavier!!!! i had you going to the sweet 16. why'd you have to choke like that??????
