Any suggestions for good places to get Hot Pot in Houston?

My father-in-law just got back from China and he's got a big craving.

    :)

    Thanks!

Houston has a lot of hoods.

If you want pot from a Chinese/asian neighborhood, let me suggest the Bellaire area.

I went to Kim Son over on Bellaire after a Texans game. That one has one. I haven't been to Tan Tan in a long long while.

Eh, I'm in Canada, so no help Houston-wise, but I just gotta use this post to empathize how good Chinese hot pot is. Mmm.

If you ever do swing around to Montreal though, I got a few good places I know.

I'd go with Tan-Tan too. It's at Bellaire and Ranchester. It's pretty generic, though. Whereas your father-in-law might've fell in love with some exotic type of hot pot in China.

according to this wiki link it's basically hot broth soup in the middle of the table, and they have dishes like raw seafood and thinly sliced meats. they also have leafy greens too. you let it cook in the middle.

its a communal food. i think i spelled that right.

Go to the Galleria. Right next to 610 & Westheimer is a new place called 420. Apparently it has a lot of unique asian cultures in there.

Suggestions are still welcome. We were planning to go today for lunch.

Somebody else I talked to mentioned Sinh Sinh. A lot of people here mentioned Tan Tan, but I'm guessing that's just because it's available and universal?

    Anyway... thanks for the suggestions.

    :)

actually Kim Son Buffet that just opened on Bellaire has a rockin' hot pot. I think it's only for dinner... but you should check, it might be for weekends too.

it totally rocks. it's buffet style hot pot. you go and get your own meats, seafood, vegetables etc and you have a big steaming hot pot to put it in on your way back. plus you got all the other viet style buffet items that are half decent too.

That reminds me of a Chinese BBQ buffet place (I forgot their name). You picked your combination of meats, sauce and vegetables, and then gave it to the cook. He would stir fry it in a big wok right in front of you. Oh...I am hungry now.

i think the poster biggiestuff mentioned something like that.

About the Kim Son on Bellaire, I mentioned I went after a Texans game, so yeah, they have it on the weekends, on Sunday Afternoon.
