Well, serious enough for Utes athletic director Chris Hill flew to Milwaukee Tuesday to meet with the Bucks assistant coach. The scuttlebutt is Hill and Krystkowiak met for almost two hours. Krystkowiak attended the Bucks' practice late Tuesday morning at the Cousins Center in St. Francis and politely declined to comment on the Utah situation. Hill left Milwaukee later Tuesday and couldn't be reached for comment. It was reported in this space last week that Krystkowiak was at the top of Hill's wish list to replace Ray Giacoletti, who resigned last week. It is believed Hill wants to move quickly in hiring a new coach, preferably before the start of the NCAA's Final Four on March 31. Krystkowiak, 45, is in his first season as a Bucks' assistant coach. He played forward for the Bucks from 1987-'92. Before joining the Bucks' coaching staff, Krystkowiak was the head coach at the University of Montana, where he guided the Grizzlies to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. It is known Bucks owner Herb Kohl has a high regard for Krystkowiak, who has one year remaining on his contract. In an interview with The Journal Times several years ago, Kohl acknowledged he orchestrated a trade with the San Antonio Spurs to bring Krystkowiak to the Bucks.
No surprise, the Bucks beat the Fightin' Utes out for Krystkowiak's services. http://www.nba.com/bucks/news/Krystkowiak_340_255_070314.html
