John Lucas. Would make for a heck of a Disney movie seeing a father-son backcourt.

Current players that would really help this team and their rankings in importance.

    1. Sam Cassell - man do we need his skills on this team
    2. Cat Mobley - could really help out in both guard spots
    3. Steve Francis - Man could we use his athleticism and ball handling
    4. Boki Nachbar - Slasher/finisher 3 ball shooter - we need all of that.
    5. Bob Horry - Pretty much washed up, but good for spot play at the 4.

There is no need to go back in history because it could never happen, but for giggles.

    1. Hakeem - PF next to Yao....OMG !
    2. OT - PF next to Yao
    3. Calvin Murphy - creative scorer for himself and others
    4. Clyde Drexler - offense and defense
    5. Charles Barkley - Could use his attitude and hustle
5b. Moses Malone - His tenacity on the glass would really help

    Carry on !!

Most of you are not understanding the Question! I say this because many answers look poor when you understand the question.
Firstly you have to remember what our team looks like to-day and what needs fixing.
So I suggest that Kenny Smith would be great as he knows how to run a team from the Point Guard position. Alston would come from the bench.
Sixth Man Mario Ellie would bring in the tough attitude that is missing to-day and would teach our outside shooters how to move without the ball and how to get set up correctly. Maxwell -too unstable would upset Yao Ming!
Robet Hory would step into McGradys shoes at Small Forward and Tracy would become our starter at Shooting Guard. Battier would come from the bench.
Moses would start at Power Forward and Howard and Hayes would come from the bench. Moses because he was our best rebounder and great with putbacks.
Starters: Kenny Smith, Tracy Mc Grady, Robert Hory, Moses Malone and YaoMing. Hakeem would not return to the game because of religious committments.
**Jvg would becom the co Head Coach incharge of Defence and
***Mario Ellie would become co Head Coach incharge of Offence.

That's total BS and you know that. Maxwell on court was a tremendous teammate that Dream trusted. why else would he throw the ball to him?
Yao seems more like a casual guy than Dream, who was a devote Muslim, you don't think Dream would be bothered by Max's off court behavior?
watch any game with Dream and Max and you will see real chemistry. You will see Max pass the ball to Dream when and where he wanted and you will see Dream pass the ball to Max when he's hot.
If Tmac and Yao had the chemistry Max and Dream had, we'd steamroll teams like tortillas.

Maxwell : Maxwell and Hakeem are the leaders of this team. And it was
no more apparent than when he was out at the beginning of the playoffs
and the Rockets were faltering. His strengths are his streaky outside
shot (seen as a weakness by others) and his tenacious defense. He is
very effective at taking it to the hole, but does not do it as often
as I would like. His weakness are his ball handling skills (magnified
in the playoffs with his injured left wrist) and his free throw
    shooting.

We'd beat Phoenix with this lineup.

    PG Kenny
    SG Max
    SF Tmac
    PF Juwan
    C Yao

Kenny would setup the offense without turning the ball over, Max could D up Barbosa and Nash (like he D-ed up Mike Jordan)

Kenny and Max knew how to play with a big man with skill.

    You just contradicted yourself, man.

You just said Maxwell wouldn't respect Yao the way he did Hakeem, and then you put him in the lineup?

By the way, if John Amechi played everyone would find out who else was gay real quickly. It would be ones who deliberately posted on him :D

Clyde Drexler could probably still play.

How about Eddie Johnson. Have a shooter that can shoot come off the bench.

Im saying Yao wouldnt care about Max's outside activities. On Court, Max was a leader and trusted teammate. Max never disrepected Dream. I dont know where you got that from. Yao is more casual than Dream, meaning he gets along with everybody. Do I see Yao and Max going around town cracking heads? no. but do I see Max putting some dude's face in on the floor if they messed with Yao, yes.
