It is me, or is this 1996 all over again, Where the Astros hold the central lead for a long period, and then they go to St. Louis to get punked and blow the season. It would not surprise me if the Cards do exactly that this year.

Luckily the Astros might just back their way into the playoffs this year however. Time to review the wild card standings again.

Alou can't be clutch by himself, you know, But the Astros can't find a way to keep him. What a SHAME!

This series vs the Giants is big for playoff implications. Assuming the Giants win today, the Astros will be 3.5 games up on them(I think). Maybe the team will sack up and win at least two of the three.

The injuries to the pitchers is killing the Astros. Wouldn't the Astros be in a better position if they had a healthy Oswalt, and still had Rodriquez and Astacio. Am I leaving anyone else out? Rodriquez was awesome. What happpened to him?

I do not care if he is 7 and 2, if Dave "make me miSICKi" is on the playoff roster (if the Astros make it there), the Astros will flame.

I don't think the baseball gods ever want the Astros to win a playoff series. What do you think?

Bottom Line: No healthy Oswalt, No Chance.

You guys ever try reverse psychology?

    The Astros will lose.
    The Astros suck.
    The Cards will win.
The Astros will not make the playoffs.
    The Astros have no chance.
    Dave Mlicki sucks.
    Shane Reynolds sucks.
    Ron Villone sucks.
    Mike Williams sucks.
    Wade Miller sucks.
    Octavio Dotel sucks.
    Billy Wagner sucks.
    The whole lineup sucks.
    The bench sucks.
    Larry Dierker sucks.
    Larry Dierker's an idiot.
Moises Alou will not be good.
    Dalgy will slump.
Lugo will make lots of errors.
    Team ERA will be 9.33
The Astros will fail to win the division.

Pitching sucks, hitting sucks, and the Astros suck.

Finalsbound, I believe that is called, "The ZRB Method". And it rarely works.

He made a brief appearance today pinch hitting, a nice single that drove in 2 runs.

    Put us up 6-3

What was wrong with Dotel today. The bullpen was horrible.

Berkman and Bagwell could NOT produce today either...

I really, really, really hate to say this, but here it goes...

I fear the Astros have begun their playoff choke two weeks early this year.

Blah. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but it seems all too familiar.

The Astros choking right now shouldn't surprise anyone. If not for the tragedies in NYC, etc., the playoffs would be starting about now.;)

Come on, they lose Ohswalt, Astacio, and Hernandez, and you think that doesn't hurt their chances?

    They will get it together....

Since the Giants lost today, all the Astros have to do is win one of 3 against SF to assure a spot as a wild card.

I am with you. Oswalt could make a first round start hopefully and I think Wade Miller and Shane Reynolds will be pretty solid. If Dave Milicki can give us 5-6 good innings we will be tough.

I think we sweep the Giants AGAIN and take 2/3 from St Louis for the Division Title and best record in the NL.

Mike Jackson should ride the pine for the rest of the year or be reduced to throwing batting practice

this isnt a choke, although i will admit today we had a rare bad game from dotel

the prob is that weve had injuries galore the last month, so you get to see villone and mlicki alot, which isnt a good thing, although dave has done a good job

we will win the division, bags and biggio will tell guys to get it together

And once we have roy back and completely healthy for the playoffs well be fine

ZRB, I believe reverse psychology does not work only for you.

It worked for me during the Rockets games. Like being 23 points down in Atlanta. I carved

    The Rockets suck

    The Rockets suck

    The Rockets suck

into my headboard, and whaddya know?

    They win.

Not choking, just injuries at the wrong time...

if Astacio and Oswalt and Hernandez were healthy, the division would already be clinched.

Has there been any word on whether or not Oswalt will be ready for the playoffs? How bad of a reinjury was it?
