Right after we get the medical exception we say that Mo could be back after the All-Star game? If this had been the case a week ago we don't get the exception, right? If this does happen, does the league have any way to reprimand or fine us (other than future considerations)? Does it seem like the Rox have gotten ruthless this off-season as far as player dealings, or the Rice trade, or Mo's injury?
if they fine us.......we can rebuke with the Alonzo Mourning defense.......he played last year and was not supposed too. bottom line.......he played and Maimi got a player with the exception
I think the league has done everything in it's power to shut down the Rockets... with this defence and when they introduced the 5 second post rule. So I don't see anything wrong with us getting alittle back
Don't forget, up until the day before Zo cam back, he and his doctors insisted that he would not return unless something dramatically changes. If Mo does in fact return (especially if its after the all star break), I think you will see the NBA move towards an NFL-type rule where once a medical exception is handed out for an injured player, that player will HAVE to sit out all season.
Having only watched the Rox since like 92-93 (pretty good timing), what exactly did we do that was tricky in getting those back to back #1 picks before they started the lottery. Or were you kidding about the tricks comment. And hell, even if you were kidding, how did we get the picks anyway (just sucking bad enough?).
Yeah, where did it say that Mo could be back after the Allstar game? I know he wanted to but it is probably a strech to think that he will play this year.
It's pretty cool to think how the rockets have changed the nba based on the league hating every offense rudy has ever run. I mean ever since "ugly ball" with NY they've been trying to speed the game up, then we use barkley to back down so they come up with the five second rule, and then we perfect the iso so they do away with illegal defense. We even indirectly got rid of hand checking thanks to derek harper playing against us. Yeah, yeah, i know it's been a combo of factors, but the rockets have always been at the forefront.
I was wondering the same thing, but I glanced through the front page and saw it in the first paragraphs. If it's true and Mo can comeback and give us any kind of positive production it gives us a serious playoff boost!
I think they botched it in making the medical exception rule. For one, as mentioned, the player shouldn't be allowed to come back that season. For two, I wouldn't allow a team to sign a player for 6 years on an exception created to replace a player for one year. My rule would be a max 2-year deal at up to half the salary of the injured player and the injured player must stay injured all season (with league officials re-inflicting the injury, if necessary ).
The Rox deliberately lost their last game of the 83-84 season to ensure their participation in the coin flip for the first pick in the draft, which turned into Akeem. After that, the league instituted the lottery to lessen the incentive for teams to tank down the stretch.
I LOVE Taylor's enthusiasm and positive approach. That's what will get him through this ordeal and the rehab with the best result possible. That being said, I would be shocked if he returned to competitive form anytime this season. Is it possible? Yes, it's possible, but highly unlikely. And that's exactly what the league medical consultants were looking at when they granted the medical exception. Dallas (Doc)Rocket.
I agree Doc D, if Cato had HALF the heart, even a 1/4th the heart that Mo has, he would be a Top 10 center!
Nah, you can't teach an old dog new tricks. If anything, Cato may learn off Rice's wisedom and get his cocky head out of his ass and see the light.
