doesn't it seem like though, at least tonight, that when he does have good position, the ball either goes in or bounces far away?? hahah maybe im just coming up with excuses but because he is shooting so much, there are pretty much no offensive boards for him
Didn't have a chance to see the game, but I was amazed by the stats he pulled tonight. Yao is back to dominant shape again, even though it may not be his 100%.
Yao wasn't really "injured", he stayed inactive for like what? a week? then he's back on his foot and had been training ever since, so imo he wasn't out of his play form that much anyways. so no surprise he's back to his playform already.
He could only train one leg for about 6 or 7 weeks and you can not train for game condition no matter how hard you exercise.
They'd better find the scouting report on Yao quick and probably with some new updates too Seriously though, I don't think Yao is 100% yet. The brace clearly is still bothering his jumping/turning, especially when he gets tired.
The great thing about Yao is he's never satisfied. In the post-game interview with the TV guy, he said that he needs to get at least double figure rebounds. What a luxury to have a guy like that.
Not at that level yet, but he is tearing it up offensively. I think earlier this year, he wasn't just scoring, but he was commanding double and triple teams while scoring. I didn't see as much of that tonight which is of course beneficial to him. Plus he still looked to get himself trapped under the basket with awkward positioning, and did get blocked or his shot alternated a few times due to the positioning he put himself in. So yea still some minor things to work on, in addition to his conditioning but he'll get there no doubt. In the end it's like arguing over a point total in wins. What's better why does it matter? 12 point win or 13 point win?
man... those folks at abc missed out on a great game. Gotta love yao for working so hard during his injury too. Looked like he had such a positive impact every minute he was on the court. I couldn't find any faults with him today at all.
Well, his coordination is not perfect yet, but it's still damn good for only 4 games back since injury. There are 3 moves he's hesitating on using right now that were money before the injury: 1. The spin into the lane fading away. That shot was money but he was a little short both times he used it tonight. 2. His ~15 jumper. Just inside the FT line is giving him a little trouble right now. 3. Turnaround baseline J. He can't quite get the rhythm yet. Those 3 things are a little harder than his jump hook and I'm sure he'll get the feel for those back in about a week. Still, I'm amazed he can put up 37 already. Such a beast.
I hope he isn't back to form yet cause an improving Yao will be scary for the league... but keep in mind.. we haven't been playing the best of competition.
His per-minute numbers (per 40 minutes below) look just fine: Code: mpg pts reb ast blk to pf TS% pre-injury 34.7 29.9 10.9 2.4 2.6 4.4 3.9 60.1% post-injury 28.0 31.4 12.9 3.6 2.5 4.6 4.6 60.4% He's playing better than any of us could reasonably have expected at this point. Big thing is for him to just limit the fouls and the turnovers.
Very keen observation. More than anything, the brace really limits some of his moves on offensive end and how quick he can get to position on the defensive end.
He is definitely not 100% yet. Today's stat line indicates that he will be better than before he was injured.
I've noticed that Yao has improved his ball passing a little bit better, it's very good cause he always gets double teamed. T-Mac and Yao both perform quite well, I like this kind of T-Mac, he has not to shoot too much, but hand the ball and pass the ball well, be the commander of rox.
Do you guys care what's Yao self-assessment? After the game, the reporters asked Yao this exact question. He said he is only at 30%
