Many of us thought it would take in at least a couple of weeks, but its only been 4 games and he drops 36 pts!!! Is this a fluke, or is he really back to where he was in Nov/Dec? BTW, he looked unstoppable (or DEVESTATING as drexler would say) when he got deep, even against Howard/Milicic.
yao is probably the hardest working player in the NBA. His work ethic is whats causing him to recovery quickly and dust off rust quick.
well he is the CONSUMMATE professional so it didnt take too long to AKLAMATE him into the offense especially with Rafer Alston ONE OF THE BEST PASSERS IN THE LEAGUE AND A REAL CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL feeding him the ball.
Tomorrow will be a good day to tell, but being a back to back we'll have to wait and see. But today it seemed he was firing on all cylinders.
No, Yao is in "post-injury, better than ever" form. Every time he comes back from injury, he ratchets his play up yet another level. Another test comes tomorrow against Pho. IMO the key is to attack them with the P/R. The Suns won't let Yao catch the ball with the guy on his back like against Orlando.
It is just that Yao cares a lot and has great prid in his game that when he does get injured he gets pi$$ed and works his a$$ to come back strong. I love his attitude.
Here's a theory: Since T-mac started going off, teams all started sharing scouting reports on how to try and stop him. They double the pick and roll (hard), they trap him on the baseline, and they make sure to force him to shoot longer shots. In all of this, the scouting report for how to defend Yao Ming has been lost... I like it.
He looks .... ummmmm .... I'm speechless. I thought it would take him about 4 weeks to play like that again, but he has gotten back to form in the span of 4 games. And he did against another premier big man (or maybe the best center in the league as some folks in the media claims). But, I hope he can do the same tomorrow night and leads us to victory against the Suns.
remember last year after the injury.. first game against the suns, 6pts 0rbs. then second game against the suns, 27pts 18rbs. lets hope we get the latter from yao tmr. even somewhere in between would be nice, as long as we WIN!
They just interviewed Yao asking him if he thought he was in good shape now after only four games and he responded saying that he wished he had double digit rebounds. Yao is a monster. He puts 37 points and is still not happy with his game.
He had a great game statistically, but there is no way he is all the way back after only 3 games. He's in decent shape and he's moving around very well, but he's still not as explosive as he was before the injury. There are times when he makes that baseline spin and doesn't finish the play like he did in December. I attribute that to that silly brace he has to wear for about another week. I don't feel like his coordination and timing is 100 percent back either. When he gets that back he will be a machine. His feel for the game is unreal. Great hands, great vision, great passing, great decision making. I'm so glad to see him back on the floor.
