    Wow, great read again Fran.
Where's the pile of criticers of Fran's writing, any other time he criticises anything about the Rockets everyone slams him.

I had been cautiously hopeful after reading the article below, but I guess it's not really true.

Cato knows he can't be 'weak link' anymore
    September 26, 2001
    Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Houston Rockets center Kelvin Cato is saying about himself what others said last season.

"Fans are there to support their teams as much as possible and when they find a weak link on a team, they attack it," Cato told KRIV-TV of Houston Wednesday. "I was the weak link for two years."

Cato provided backup last season for Hakeem Olajuwon, who now plays for the Toronto Raptors. The Rockets, who begin preseason workouts Tuesday, are counting on Cato filling the void.

Cato played in only 35 games last season, partly because of a badly sprained ankle he suffered in the second game of the season. Cato also suffered from a partially torn rotator cuff.

"Truthfully, I'm about 90 percent. I still have a little pain in my (left) ankle every now and then," Cato said. "But for the most part I've lost a lot of weight and gained a lot of muscle. I've really focused on getting ready for the season."

The Rockets signed Cato two years ago to a six-year, $42 million contract. Cato says he's ready to earn his salary.

"I'm not going to be limited," Cato said. "I am going to give 110 percent this year. I'm trying to prove to a lot of people that say I don't deserve or that I got too much."

Cato averaged 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds last season.

It sounds awesome, but that's the EXACT SAME THING he said the year before . . . too bad it looks like a lot of smoke.

Thats why I'm glad we signed a hungry guy like Jackson. Cato couldn't even give Sabonis a break. I thought when we gave Pippen away that O'Neal was the better player. My friends and I used to argue that Oneal should have been the player we took instead of Cato. Now thats looks very evident now. I'll take gym rats anyday.

Am I the only one who got this joke???

It's the Geico commercial with the FOB Indian guy with a test tube saying, "I think people just want to save money."

Everybody slams him when he writes something negative just for the sake of writing a negative article. But everything he says in this piece is justified. Cato just doesn't have the necessary drive to succeed at this level. It is really amazing that he has gotten this far on talent alone. The next time Fran bashes the Rockets or a Rocket player needlessly or for wrong or bad reasons, I will bash him.

But, unfortunately, here he was right on, it seems. Damn you, Cato.

I like reading his negative articles. There is no requirement in sports journalism to only write positive articles. When the guy finds something negative to do with the Rockets (and there are many of those), he writes about it. Big deal.

Perhaps we can tell Tony Soprano that Cato's been harassing his psychiatrist.

Man, Cato's the biggest pile of turd that I've ever seen in professional basketball. I used to think the guy was a wus b/c he writes books for children, but now I can only imagine the bipolar messages he pollutes kids' minds with: "I can do it... actually, I probably can't". What a loser. What a pathetic loser.

I'm frankly embarassed for the guy.
