Remember the standard in KC at OL is Willie Roaf. Anyone other than him is probably pretty much garbage according to the fans there. Just like until there is a Munchak-type player that comes out of the rubble for the Texans, in our opinion everyone we have either sucks or is overrated.
As a KC fan, to say he struggled at LT is putting it mildly. Yes, we were spoiled with Roaf at LT but Black was completely brutal as a replacement and easily one of the worst starting LT's in the league last season. Still I kind of like the pickup and the contract was very reasonable for this market. Myself and some KC fans think he could potentially make a serviceable guard and that is really his natural position but he never really got much time in there because of necessity. At worst he is decent depth so long as he doesn't get forced back into the LT position which is well beyond his abilities.
“I think that Jordan has been the most improved player on the offensive side of the football when you look at the starting 11 and the impact that he’s had,” said Kansas City quarterback Trent Green. http://raiders.scout.com/2/625228.html?refid=400&CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5 humph
They have a weird reaction... Usually when a scrub moves on people don't get that angry...err...happy about it.
Guess he is still suffering the effects of the concussion. Green isn't really one of those that will trash one his teammates.
Ok, thanks for the clarification. So, at least this gives us some serviceable depth. Trust me this guy is STILL an upgrade from the great Seth Wand. He couldn't run block, he couldn't pass block. Despite all, our OL work has been SO collectively pathetic, that even with your description of this guy, Black, he laughingly is probably STILL an improvement overall to our OL. Yes, it's true the Texan OL is THAT bad! It's just our QB hasn't helped any in this capacity even when the OL work was remotely adequate.
I follow the Texans I guess unfortunately as my secondary team. I don't think he is on the level of Wand as a bad tackle and isn't a laughable addition to the line. I won't be troubled if Black ends up as the starting RG next season.
Good point. I hate cross sport comparisons but the heat that Black got from KC fans over the last two years is similar to what Rafer has gotten this year but is was definitely more deserving.
Very good signing. Insurance policy against Spencer and provides depth. With our other moves,I wouldn't be surprised if we move down and take a CB while picking up an extra pick or two. But don't discount Brady Quinn.
