Anyone else see this show on TLC last night? It's about these four super-obese people who eat incredible amounts of food. The only clip I could find on youtube. Quality is horrible, because the poster actually shot a video of his big-screen TV. You get the idea though. This may be NSFW: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JmPU4ph0seI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JmPU4ph0seI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> The one question I have is: how the hell do these people who can't even leave their houses make enough money to eat like they do?
I have not seen it, but if you are that obese and still eat 33,000 calories a day you are an idiot and deserve no sympathy. Check into "****** rehab" or something.
I don't think I could eat 33,000 calories if somebody paid me to do it. I watched part of it lastnight and I just couldn't understand how these people could physically eat that much.
i could see myself getting like that. if it weren't for our jobs (which i'm sure is something these people didn't have), i think it's easy to get caught up in food, especially when you've got nothing to do. i eat a crapload. i overeat alot when there's a party of some sort. i'm just lucky that i can afford a gym membership and have time to go. otherwise, i'd be fuxored.
Allright, the "****** rehab" comment was excessively harsh. But I'll stand by the rest of my comment.
Sure I do. But I'm not so enslaved too them that I would be put on TV as some sort of "reality-TV-freak-show" and then still succomb to them. I mean seriously, if a TV producer came up to me and said "we'd like to put you on a show about incredibly fat people who eat more than 15 normal people combined" I think I'd reevaluate my diet. Then again, maybe the show is trying to show the effects of such a lifestyle. Or is aiming to help them - I dunno.
holy crap. 33k calories=13.2 lbs. thats more than 1/10 my weight. so in ten days, the amount of calories = more than my weight.
Doesn't someone have to bring them their food? Couldn't you just say "No way you are eating all this." and just leave healthy food and water for them? Only problem I see is them getting enough weight off to move around and get to food - but if you only feed them healthy food/good calories, maybe they would get used to it and maybe like it.
wow, I eat around 42,000 calories in a month. I can't imagine eating that much. I don't know if some people are genetically predisposed to having a gene that makes them eat so much. A few years ago, I was in a downward spiral of eating b/c I felt bad (20% body fat), but then I turned it around and now at 8% body fat. This was all in the span of one year. I started exercising 5-6 days a week, and cut all sugar, from my diet, but slowly. Normally, if the person is obese, and I know them personally, I could make a judgment on them. For example a buddy of mine doesn't go to the gym or watches what he eats, but instead spends hours watching anime. I consider him lazy. But I really don't know these people on tv, or what medications they might be on that is causing them to gain weight.
Wow. Our elite wildland firefighters burn about 6,000 calories a day... That means you would have to spend about 6 12-hour days of arduous physical activity to work off one day's worth of calories. We also feed firefighters a minimum of 6,000 calories a day. Unless you're really working hard on the line, it's almost impossible to consume all 6,000. I didn't see the show, but damn, you'd have to really put some effort to reach 33,000 calories in a day. One fourth of that would leave this big fat guy puking his guts out.
