Gee I hate to say that, but last night he said that if you are going to go one on one, you have to be able to finish.

The Rockets seemingly have the biggest ball hog in the NBA right now and he is killing the team. Mobely has talent, but I think that he believes that he is some kind of all star -- which he is not. You have to be able to finish if you are going to go one on one, and Mobely is not a great finisher.

What irks me the most is that Rudy T. seems to be encouraging this. Every time the Rockets come down the court they give the ball to one player who holds the ball forever. Now you can't blame Rudy for everything. I mean, the best two players on the team are injured and one isn't coming back. But it seems to me that Rudy has just shifted his coaching philosophy from pass the ball down low and let the low post player hold the ball for ten seconds, to give the ball to a guard to hold at the top of the key for ten seconds. This is a brilliant innovation from a brilliant coach.

The Rockets work best when they move without the ball, set picks, and pass the ball around. These are fundamentals of basketball which Rudy T. has seemed to forget.

I'n not going to b**** about the fact that the Rockets lost a game last night that they could have won because, like Clutch, I hope the Rockets lose every game for the rest of the season. (Lets, at least, get a high draft pick as a result of this miserable season.) But I would like to see the Rockets accomplish something even when they lose, and most of all, I want to see the team move away from the playground style of basketball to a team that, at least, looks like they are playing a team sport.

I just didn't understand the last shot of Mobely. The fact that that "play" was actually called during the timeout was mindboggling to me.

Why are you even commenting then? You should be happy that Mobley is the biggest ballhog in the game.

A real fan never "wants" his team to lose. You can look on the bright side after a loss, which may be that a loss inches us closer to the lottery, but to actively root for them to lose is ridiculous.

I hope the Rockets lose every game for the rest of the season.

I don't think I misinterpreted that direct quote at all. Obviously you didn't read my post. A real fan never wants his/her team to lose. In our case this year, one could decide not to get discouraged after a loss by looking on the bright side of a potential high pick; however, to want them to lose is pathetic.

Calvin knows his stuff. He jokes around a lot but he is very intelligent and he hits the nail on the head lots of times in what the player should have done in this play, etc. If there wouldn't be a personality conflict, I would really like to see Calvin as an assistant coach. Didn't he used to be one for the Rockets? I don't expect an answer but I thought he was. Also, he is fiery (which we need) and I think he has respect as a hall of famer. I know the young kids at his camp idolize him and rightfully so. I was there every day for a week and he has class - for some reason, lol, he shows a lot of his clown side on t.v. Anyway, he has a lot of knowledge and love of the game.

Cuttino is anything but a ball hog. He is doing his best to step up and be the man but he is so advanced we forget he basically is still a rookie. Rudy would be in Cat's face if he were doing all these isolation plays on his own. I remember he used to have to get in Sam Cassell's face sometimes, lol. Cuttino is clutch and gutsy but I hope he realizes the star is Francis. I think Cat is just doing what he can when Stevie is out or when Rudy calls his play. He does not have to take every personal challenge by an opponent though - it's not playground ball. He is a bright spot on the season in my book.

P.S. I am unhappy with every loss. I would rather have a low pick than lose any game on purpose. You lose the whole purpose of sports if you believe in tanking and nonsense such as that. You are also fooling yourself to think that it is okay to lose on purpose if it is to better yourself in the future. It is wrong. San Antonio did it - everyone lost some respect for them. I never liked what Popovich did to Bob Hill anyway so them tanking it does not surprise me. I hope the Rockets organization will show more class than that although I have to say some of the stuff I have seen made me wonder about it. Not the players.

Anyway, it is no fun to watch a game if you think your team will lose on purpose. Not for me. Where is the excitement in that! Give me your best effort and I can still be a fan, sometimes critical but still a fan.

Maybe Rudy is inflating his numbers for an eventual trade.

Rocketman: Did you even read my post???

As a rockets fan who wants the team to win the championship, I have recognized that winning this year does not necessarily advance that goal. What will bring a championship to Houston is the young players on the Rockets learning to play together as a team -- Ballhogging does not advance that goal. Coaching a one-on-one style of offense does not help that goal.
