is there a Toyota Center password thingie?

They haven't mailed it out yet.

I think the police bestbuy thing gets first dibs, and then toyota center, and then the general public.

hook me up with it if yall get it.

Bestbuy presale (Wed? ~ 5% of tix) - Fanclub presale (Thurs ~ 50%) - General Public (Sat ~30%)
The remaining tickets belong to Toyota Center and tour sponsors. Rocket Season Ticket holders would have a shot at the few Toyota Center tickets. They aren't a "dibs" system, but actual allocations for distribution.

How do I take advantage of the BestBuy presale?

Sorry for the dumb question. I'm a little out of touch. I haven't seen a concert since I took my wife to see Rob Thomas just after my ordeal last summer and I was still delusional.

You have to register at the BB website and become a member (not sure if it costs anything). Once you become a member they assign you a "one time use" password. That's what you'll use to get the Best Buy presale.

    From the BB website:

Please note: New Reward Zone program members are not eligible for The Police presale tickets promotion. To be eligible, you must have been a member as of February 1, 2007. However, you'll still want to enroll, because there will be other great member benefits to come!

If I understand it right, there's really no advantage in using the BB rewards membership. The tickets you get won't be any better than the general public tickets. They might actually be worse. And it's not like the BB people are going to eat up all the tickets before everyone else because they only have a predetermined percentage (5%) of the tickets.

Same goes for the fanclub (with a different percentage), right emjohn?

Also, it looks like we're only getting one show, unless the 2nd show happens BEFORE the first show, which is unlikely.

Who would have ever thought you would have to join some stupid retailer program to get in on pre-sale seats for concerts? That is totally lame.

Why can't we all just be exposed to all the available tickets at the same time?

I mean...a pre-sale is nothing more than selling a section of allotted seats ahead of time. You still have to contend with all the other pre-sale peeps. So, is there supposed to be some benefit there?

I will admit that I got front row tickets on a Rush pre-sale. However, I think that was totally just dumb luck as I was the first one in the system at the right time after bombarding it with form submits and copy/pastes...lol. Other people didn't fare so well.

Good grief, Charlie Brown! Get rid of pre-sales, PLEASE! By the time regular sales open up, it's even more difficult to get anything good after all these pre-sales...which still amounts to tons of fans vying for the same tickets.

    Am I wrong?

No, Toyota Center does not use ticketmaster, they have an in house ticket service. You have to buy the tix from the Toyta Center website:
    http://www.toyotacentertix.com/events/event_518.php

BTW, wow, I did not know that they had gotten back together to record a crappy new version of Don't Stand so Close to me in 1986:

    Real quick, in FAQ form...

Q: What's my best bet for tickets?
A: Fork over $100 to thepolicetour.com "fanclub" and participate in their presale on Thursday. They have just about half of the tickets to the show.

Q: Could I just wait for the houstontoyotacenter.com general public onsale on Saturday?
A: You can do that and save the $100, but will be rolling the dice. Almost all shows have sold out immediately, and the majority of tickets are gone by the time of the public sale.

    Q: What about ebay?
A: Scalpers and ebay are selling tickets for roughly 3x to 6x face value. take a peek at what the Dallas shows are going for.

Q: What the hell is with all these presales?
A: $$$$$. Best Buy forked over a good amount to have their ticket allotment, and it acts as a carrot for people to sign up for their rewards card (American Express Blue has done similar stuff in the past couple of years). The fansite is to milk an extra $100 out of the more desperate fans (the fee is good for only one presale, you have to pay again if you want to go after a second show). Sucks, but they're actually pricing tickets below market value, so hey.

Just got my tickets using the Best Buy rewardzone code. They went on sale at 10 am. If you were planning on getting some this way you had better jump on them.

You know, the more I think about this....

As much as I LOVE The Police (pretty sure that's no big secret...), I just don't know if I'm willing to spend $500 to take my girlfriend to see them. Unless it's the front row, I just don't see the point in spending more than $100 to see ANY band. Not even my favorite band.

I'm just going to see what happens on Saturday morning with the general public seating and try to pick a couple of "cheap" seats. If that doesn't work..

    SI LA VIE

I refuse to go the fanclub route and pay $100 for the right to pay $450 for a couple of concert tickets.
