If true, why would anyone leak this info?

CIA Rushing Resources to Bin Laden Hunt

    March 05, 2007 3:47 PM

    Brian Ross Reports:

Armed with fresh intelligence, the CIA is moving additional man power and equipment into Pakistan in the effort to find Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al Zawahri, U.S. officials tell ABC News.

"Reports that the trail has gone stone cold are not correct," said one U.S. official. "We are very much increasing our efforts there," the official said.

People familiar with the CIA operation say undercover officers with paramilitary training have been ordered into Pakistan and the area across the border with Afghanistan as part of the ramp-up.

Although never publicly acknowledged, Pakistan has permitted CIA teams to secretly operate inside Pakistan.

Pakistan officials say they are aware that CIA teams have increased their presence in northern Waziristan since last September when Pakistan withdrew its troops from the area under a much-criticized "peace deal" with tribal leaders.

Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell testified last week that current intelligence "to the best of our knowledge" puts both bin Laden and al Zawahri in Pakistan. It was the first time a high-ranking U.S. official publicly identified Pakistan as bin Laden's hiding place.

Past intelligence has indicated that bin Laden often changed locations in March, traveling to hiding places in the mountains once the snow cover begins to melt.

It's not the journalist's job to win the war.

This is hardly the first time US officials have voluntarily made an indication like this. I do know what your priority it is though.

Obviously this could be disinformation to make OBL move around when he doesn't have to.

That's a real possibility. I hope there is something more to it, though, as I'd really love for us to get these guys.

Ok, so Bin Laden hasn't been captured and must obviously be constantly doing everything possible to elude detection. Knowing that the US is ramping up efforts mean that he is going to find a new level of hiding, is he going to give 110%?

It actually wouldn't surprse me a bit if this is actually old news just now released(leaked).
They already have the additional guys in place and have leaked this to see if it stirs up some movement.

or its just the standard level of incompetence we have grown to expect out of our government.

one thing every single one of us can agree with, we all want this guys head on a lance mounted at the Towers Memorial.

well, maybe thats a little harsh, but at least catch him damnit.

What's the strongest word in the English language for "coward"? Times that by about 100,000 and you have one of the many words that describe OBL.

If there was not so much bureaucratic red tape involved, and they let me work at my own pace, I probably could have found Bin Laden. I'm good at finding stuff. I don't know how many times I've had to find someone's car keys, when no one else could. I have great eyesight too, even though I wear contacts. I can spot loose change and nails on the road while I'm driving.

Yes he is going to the next level. I heard that in wake of this news report, in particular due to its posting on CF.net (thanks a LOT, Foas  ) he is changing his AIM SuperBuddy icon.

not knowing whether the leak was for publication, but assuming it was, you could ask the same question- does the source want to win, or not?

You do know that in intelligence matters the US regularly holds official "off the record" briefings right, McCarthy?

How nice. In a thread about OBL, basso somehow becomes the bad guy.

Everyone knows we're not going to release news on the capture of OBL until October right before the election so the evil Bu****ler can become emperor of Earth and give all his Halliburton friends more money and kill all those who voted against him. After all, he does have ties with the Saudi royal family.

It's real stupid to go after Bin Ladin, I mean we all know the jews and the US government were behind 911 so I think it's time to move on right?
